Electric cars are still relatively new compared to traditional combustion engine vehicles. As a result, customers often have concerns before considering buying an electric car. In addition to concerns about the risk of fires, users are also afraid of running out of battery power while on the road.

Now, electric car buyers have another concern: their car’s battery falling off while driving. This incident actually happened in China not long ago.

It is known that Cao Cao 60 EV is a newly launched electric car in China on March 30 this year. This electric car model is part of the new Cao Cao sub-brand introduced in March 2023 by Geely.

In the Chinese market, Cao Cao 60 EV has a starting price of 119,800 Chinese Yuan (about 389 million VND). The car uses battery swapping technology so that users do not have to wait for charging and can travel up to 415 km on a single charge according to the CLTC test cycle in China.

Cao Cao is a brand aimed at ride-hailing service providers. Therefore, regular individual customers cannot buy the Cao Cao 60 EV as this model is only sold to ride-hailing service providers.

During the launch event of the 60 EV, Cao Cao brand emphasized that this electric car model is specially designed to meet the needs of ride-hailing service providers and has high durability. However, the battery falling incident mentioned above has cast a shadow on this newly launched brand.

Actually, the 60 EV is not assembled by Cao Cao, but by Ruilan Automobile, a subsidiary brand of Geely, is responsible for manufacturing this electric car model. On June 30, 2023, a representative of Ruilan Automobile commented on this battery falling incident.

According to the representative of Ruilan Automobile, the Cao Cao 60 EV that lost its battery is a test vehicle. At the time of the incident, this vehicle was undergoing test runs on the street. The representative of Ruilan Automobile affirmed that the cause of the incident was due to oversight when installing the battery during the battery swapping process and has nothing to do with the safety of the car or the battery pack itself.

The incident is still being investigated to clarify the details.
