Kia has just announced new details about the upgraded Carnival model, before the official launch in South Korea at the end of this month.
Starting from the outside, the MPV model adopts the new Opposites United design language, “combining both elegance and strength like an SUV.” The notable changes are mainly focused on the front of the car where the Carnival features a larger grille and a redesigned front bumper. They are combined with new headlights, which have a vertical design, as well as “Star Map” daytime running lights.
Moving to the rear, the back of the 2024 Carnival is smoother because there is no longer a handle to open the trunk. Another noticeable change is that the position of the Kia logo has been lowered, no longer playing a role in dividing the LED strip. The reflex lights on the rear bumper seem slimmer than before.
Customers looking for a more unique vehicle can choose the new Gravity package, which features dark accents and exclusive 19-inch black wheels.
Further changes appear inside the cabin, where we can see a slightly revised dashboard and a prominent panoramic curved display. This curved display is a combination of a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment system. In addition, the center control cluster has also been modified.
Kia notes that the 2024 Carnival features an improved interior ambient lighting system, fingerprint recognition technology, and UV-C disinfection box on the center console. Other highlights include an 11-inch heads-up display, Ergo Motion seats, and a modernized infotainment system with over-the-air updates support.
In terms of technology, this MPV model is equipped with various driver assistance systems including Front Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Collision Avoidance Assist, and Highway Driving Assist 2. It is also equipped with Automatic Headlights, Safe Exit Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist.
Under the hood is the new 1.6L turbocharged hybrid powertrain, delivering a combined output of 242 horsepower and a maximum torque of 367 Nm.
Customers can also choose the familiar 2.2L diesel engine and the 3.5L V6 gasoline engine. Other announced changes include improved suspension for a smoother driving experience and additional sound insulation materials for a quieter cabin.
The new Carnival will start taking deposits in South Korea this week with a starting price of 34.7 million won ($26,601).
