A few months after its global launch, Hyundai has officially released the specifications of the Ioniq 5 N model for the North American market ahead of the opening of the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show. The price of the car has not been revealed yet, but the Korean automaker has announced that the car will be available at dealerships in the US in March 2024.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N 2025 for the US and Canada markets is quite similar to the version that was introduced for the international market a few months ago. Specifically, similar to the regular Ioniq 5, the new Ioniq 5 N is developed based on the Electric-Global Module Platform of the brand. The car is equipped with a larger 84 kWh battery pack and upgraded electric motors both front and rear.
The front electric motor has a power output of 223 horsepower, while the rear electric motor generates 378 horsepower. The two motors provide a combined power output of 601 horsepower, which can be boosted to 641 horsepower in Boost mode, making the car even more powerful than the Kia EV6 GT. With this power, the Ioniq 5 N can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 260 km/h. When activating the N Launch Control mode, the car can accelerate to 100 km/h in just 3.25 seconds.
With fast charging technology, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N can charge from 10-80% in just 18 minutes. Drivers can optimize the battery performance with Hyundai’s N Battery Pre-conditioning system. This allows drivers to choose between Drag mode or Track mode. The N Race feature of the car with two different modes provides more control over the car’s energy usage.
Hyundai has not provided the weight of the Ioniq 5 N, but revealed that it is heavier than the standard model. The Ioniq 5 N has larger wheels, a completely modified suspension system, new aerodynamic components, and an updated regenerative braking system, all contributing to the weight increase of the car. However, Hyundai has tried to counteract the weight through software and other techniques.
Hyundai has equipped the Ioniq 5 N with the strongest braking system of the company, including 400 mm front discs with four-piston calipers and 360 mm rear discs. Hyundai has built the brake system from new lightweight materials with a hybrid structure, creating the strongest braking system ever from the company.
A series of design changes have also been made to the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. For example, the car is 20 mm lower, 50 mm wider, and 80 mm longer. It is equipped with a new air splitter, active air flaps, unique aerodynamic skirts, prominent diffusers, triangle-shaped brake lights, and a rear window wiper. The car comes with 21-inch forged aluminum wheels as standard and is wrapped in Pirelli P Zero 275/35 tires.
Inside, Hyundai has installed a new N-design steering wheel, the first time with the logo of the high-performance division. It has four buttons – Drive Mode Select, N Grin Boost, and two N Custom buttons. The paddle shifters and N Pedal function are located behind the steering wheel.
Hyundai has also increased comfort for the driver on the race track. The company has installed a headrest pad and a leg tube support on the reinforced center control cluster, along with an extended sliding armrest. Hyundai has also lowered the seat position by about 0.79 inches, which comes with pixel pattern fabric and leather or a combination of leather and eco-friendly Alcantara.
Customers in the US can order the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N 2025 with exterior colors including Performance Blue Matte, Abyss Black Pearl, Ecotronic Gray Matte, Atlas White, and Soultronic Orange Pearl.
