Yamaha Grande and Honda Lead are the two most popular names in the group of scooters for women. The new generation of Grande has just been launched in Vietnam with significant changes, priced at VND 45.9-51 million, which is an increase of VND 700,000 compared to the previous generation, and higher than its rival Honda Lead by VND 3.6-12 million.

Meanwhile, Honda Lead has only undergone equipment upgrades and has not had any significant design changes since its current generation was launched in 2017. This model is priced at VND 39-42.3 million.
Honda Lead practical, Yamaha Grande fashionable
With the newly launched generation, Yamah Grande still maintains its slender and soft appearance, focusing on the female customer group. The new design details make this model more fashionable.
Grande 2022 changes the design of the clock face, the rear light cluster, adds a positioning light strip similar to Janus… The front lighting cluster still has the same shape, using LED technology, the front turn signals are slimmer and switch to using LED bulbs instead of halogen as in the past.
The Yamaha scooter is also equipped with a charging port and a front storage compartment, which are necessary additions since its competitor Honda Lead has had them for a long time. However, the design of the open charging port and the storage compartment without a cover on the Yamaha Grande is quite inconvenient to use in rainy weather.
Meanwhile, Honda Lead has sharp lines on the sides and tail, along with chrome accents on the front and front aprons for a luxurious feel. In addition, the two-tier LED front lights and the Y-shaped tail light also make the Lead look more stylish. Compared to the Yamaha Grande, the exterior of the Honda Lead gives a more imposing feeling.
In reality, the Honda Lead has a weight of 113 kg, heavier than the 100 kg of the Yamaha Grande, making it more user-friendly for women, easy to handle and park. On the other hand, the seat height of the Honda Lead is lower at 760 mm, compared to the 790 mm of the Yamaha Grande.
The Yamaha Grande 2022 still has a left-side fuel cap design, making refueling more convenient. Meanwhile, the Honda Lead has a lower fuel inlet and still requires manually opening the fuel cap.
One of the strengths of the Honda Lead is its practicality. In terms of a spacious storage requirement, the Honda Lead has no rivals in the group of mass-market scooters, with a storage capacity of 37 liters. Meanwhile, the Grande’s storage is only at 27 liters.
Yamaha Grande has an advantage in safety technology
In the new generation, the Yamaha Grande is equipped with a front disc brake system and a hydraulic rear brake, along with ABS system in the front wheel. This is the superiority of Grande compared to the Honda Lead.
In addition, both wheels of the Grande have a size of 12 inches, while the Lead uses a front/rear wheel set of 12 inches and 10 inches respectively. The larger wheels make the scooter look taller and more beautiful compared to the Lead.

Some similar features between Honda Lead and Yamaha Grande include smart key, automatic engine on/off function at red lights, and front disc brakes.
The small difference is that Honda Lead has removed the light switch from the 2019 version. Meanwhile, the Yamaha Grande 2022 still retains this switch. The fact that Honda Lead, and Honda models in general, do not have a light switch is not necessarily a drawback, but it also causes some inconvenience when using, especially in parking lots with cameras, where the lights are always on, making the license plate of the front vehicle dazzling, requiring the user to turn off the engine.
Honda Lead strong but Yamaha Grande more fuel efficient
The Yamaha Grande 2022 is still equipped with the Blue Core 125 cc engine, producing a power of 8.2 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 10.4 Nm at 5,000 rpm, which is lower than the Honda Lead.
The Honda scooter is equipped with the eSP+ 125 cc engine, generating 11 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 11.7 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm.
In exchange for being equipped with an electric motor to assist operation, the fuel consumption of the Yamaha Grande 2022 is lower than that of its rival, at 1.66 liters/100 km, while on the Honda Lead it is 2.16 liters/100 km.
In general, the Honda Lead has the advantage of a lower retail price (VND 39-42.3 million) and higher practicality. This scooter is gradually becoming a family vehicle, instead of just being “framed” for women as before.
Meanwhile, the Yamaha Grande continues to be a friendly and safe scooter for female users thanks to its list of diverse convenient features and good fuel efficiency. However, the price of the Grande is significantly higher than its competitor, equivalent to the premium scooter segment.
