In Vietnam, vintage cars over 50 years old are still sought after and collected by enthusiasts. However, in Taiwan, we came across two vintage cars belonging to two brands, Chevrolet and MG, displayed in the main lobby of Orchard Park hotel as decorative items. This can also be easily noticed at some large hotels in Vietnam, such as Sofitel Legend Metropole, with two vintage cars bearing the Citroen brand always parked in front of the hotel entrance.

Looking at the nameplate, it can be seen that this is the 1931 Chevrolet Coupe and the 1954 MG TF. While many people are familiar with Chevrolet, MG may be a brand quite unfamiliar to most Vietnamese people.

1954 MG TF.

A little introduction about the 1954 MG TF, this is a two-door sports car with two seats that was first introduced in October 1953 and is an upgraded version of the MG TD series. Therefore, the 1954 MG TF is equipped with a 1,466cc engine with a maximum power output of about 63.9 horsepower at 5,000 rpm.

Although quite eye-catching, the lifespan of the MG TF model is quite short as it only existed for two years. By April 1955, the MG TF officially ceased production after having brought 9,602 cars to the market.

On the other hand, the 1931 Chevrolet Coupe is even more rare as it was produced since 1931 and is a quite special model that was born to serve the need for a more spacious but affordable sports car of the majority of American people during that time due to the economic recession.

1931 Chevrolet Coupe.

Unlike regular 4-door Chevrolet cars, the 1931 Chevrolet Coupe only has 2 doors and 2 seats. The 1931 Chevrolet Coupe is equipped with a 6-cylinder inline engine that is completely different from its Ford counterparts. With this engine block, the 1931 Chevrolet Coupe can generate a maximum power output of 50 horsepower at 2,600 rpm along with a 3-speed manual transmission. At that time, these were dreamy figures.

It can be said that if you have the opportunity to visit Taiwan and stop by Orchard Park hotel, the two vintage cars like the 1931 Chevrolet Coupe and the 1954 MG TF will be quite interesting highlights in the elegant space of this hotel.
