As a pioneer customer who pre-ordered the VinFast VF 8 model in San Diego, California, the United States, Dr. Tony Nguyen has been using the Vietnamese electric car for over 6 months and actively participating in the VFFS – VinFast Friend Support group. His deep understanding and advice on the VF 8 model are incredibly helpful to other owners of VinFast VF 8 cars.

Today, let’s dive deeper into Tony’s story with VinFast VF 8!

PV: Hello Tony. Can you share why you decided to buy the VF 8?

Dr. Tony: Since the first time I saw the VF 8 on the internet, I was immediately impressed by its design. However, what attracted me the most to this electric car is that it is a product made in Vietnam. I have a close friend and a neighbor who are also fans of VinFast. They are influential people in my decision to buy the VF 8.

My friends and I have shared and discussed a lot about VinFast through the news we read on the internet. My neighbor is one of the first to own a VF 8. After visiting him and seeing the car in his garage, I was completely convinced. In the end, I decided to buy the VF 8 without test driving it.

PV: Electric cars usually provide unique driving experiences. How does it feel to drive the VF 8?

Dr. Tony: I have had great driving experiences with the VF 8. It is more powerful and agile than my old Lexus SUV. Driving the VF 8 is really smooth and comfortable. I have also tested the vibration and noise levels of the VF 8 compared to other cars, including both internal combustion engine and electric vehicles, and found that VinFast’s electric car is comparable or even better in terms of vibration and noise. The car handles well in all road conditions. The best experience I have with the VF 8 is with its ADAS system. The ADAS system in this car works quite well.

PV: Can you share your most memorable moment behind the wheel of the VF 8?

Dr. Tony: For me, one of the most memorable moments while driving the VF 8 is when people in other cars roll down their windows and give a thumbs-up to show their admiration for my car. I feel proud of the car I’m driving.

To have more memorable moments with VinFast cars without necessarily sitting behind the wheel, I have found many friends, most of whom are VF 8 owners. We are on the same wavelength and talk to each other like close and longtime friends. These are certainly the most unforgettable moments for me as a VinFast car owner.

PV: Can you share any specific interesting or inspiring journeys or experiences with the VF 8?

Dr. Tony: The most memorable journey with the VF 8 was when I took the car for a test drive to Big Bear Mountain (elevation over 2,133 meters) just a few days after receiving it from the dealership. It’s worth noting that I no longer needed a test drive before purchasing. I took my whole family for a visit and loaded the car with snowboarding gear. This journey was memorable because I had mixed emotions, despite the advice and concerns from friends and family. I felt curious, worried, and adventurous. I had never had any experience with an electric car before, and this was a completely new car model.

I didn’t know if this car could handle mountain driving, snow driving, and especially how I could charge the car from public charging stations. Previously, I had never charged a car at external stations. I didn’t even know if there were enough functioning charging stations on the road. In the end, I had a very successful trip. Through the trip, I found the regenerative braking system to work very well. The car charges itself while driving downhill. It can be said that it was a memorable trip for me.

PV: Electric cars are known to be environmentally friendly. How has owning the VF 8 changed your perspective on sustainable transportation and environmental protection? And have you made any lifestyle changes?

Dr. Tony: I am a firm believer in global warming and the like. Using electric cars is undoubtedly a way to protect the environment for future generations. I encourage people to be more responsible in saving the earth and helping future generations by creating a better environment. Driving electric cars is definitely the first step towards this goal. Overall transportation should also follow a similar path. The transition from gasoline-powered cars to electric cars is a lifestyle change for me.

PV: The VinFast community consists of many electric car enthusiasts. Do you have any advice for VF 8 owners to maximize their experience with the car?

Dr. Tony: My advice for VF 8 owners is: Don’t just use this car for yourself. Share, share, and share. VF 8, or any VinFast electric car, is still relatively new on the market and in the process of development. Drivers sharing their experiences will undoubtedly be very helpful in supporting each other. New cars always have imperfections here and there. Sharing lessons learned from searching for and solving problems will benefit everyone.

In addition, manufacturers need feedback from car owners to further improve the quality of the cars. Not all issues can be found in the laboratory. Real-world driving experiences are invaluable and extremely useful for manufacturers. Be open to VinFast about all your experiences with your car, good or bad.
