BMW Vietnam has recently confirmed that it will officially introduce 2 new models, X5 (LCI upgrade) and XM, on November 11th. The XM model is likely to be imported while the X5 LCI will be assembled locally.
BMW XM
The BMW XM is the fastest, most powerful and most luxurious SUV from BMW. And it is also the first high-performance electric drive vehicle from the brand.
Powering the BMW XM 2023 is a twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8 petrol engine with a maximum power output of 483 horsepower and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive system. Additionally, the car is equipped with a strong electric motor that adds 194 horsepower to bring the total power output of the BMW XM 2023 to 644 horsepower and a torque of 800 Nm. The Label Red version has a total power output of up to 735 horsepower and a maximum torque of 997 Nm.
The BMW XM 2023 can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in 4.1 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 250 km/h. With the optional M Driver’s Package, the car can reach a top speed of up to 270 km/h. Compared to other luxury hybrid models, the electric range of the BMW XM 2023 is modest, only about 50 km at a maximum speed of 140 km/h.
Notably, the BMW XM 2023 is equipped with an active roll stabilization system with electronic control and rear-wheel steering, which is a first for BMW M models.
The BMW XM 2023 has a bold and distinctive exterior design. The front end features a large kidney grille combined with illuminated strips and a 2-tier headlight system similar to the new BMW 7-Series. The split headlights have slim daytime running lights positioned above and main headlights positioned below. The bonnet features prominent creases for a sporty look.
The rear of the car features sleek taillights, a glossy black diffuser on the rear bumper, a diffuser, 2 vertical reflectors, and a twin stacked exhaust system.
The German automaker offers customers the choice of 21-inch, 22-inch, or 23-inch wheels for the BMW XM. The 23-inch wheels are wrapped in Michelin tires with sizes 275/45 at the front and 315/40 at the rear.
Inside the cabin, the BMW XM 2023 shares many similarities with the new X7, such as the dashboard and central control cluster.
The car also comes with some expensive features such as a digital instrument cluster integrated with a touchscreen center display, a panoramic sunroof with about 100 LED lights that create eye-catching lighting effects based on driving modes, premium leather upholstery, and the latest iDrive 8 infotainment system, among others.
In terms of safety equipment, the BMW XM 2023 is equipped with advanced driver assistance features such as emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, and front and rear cross-traffic alert.
According to sales advisors, the expected price of the car is around 12 billion VND. If the actual selling price is accurate, the XM will be the first BMW model in Vietnam with a price of over 10 billion VND, double the price of the X7.
BMW X5
Alongside the high-performance XM SUV on November 11th, BMW will also launch an updated version of the X5 called the LCI facelift. Globally introduced at the beginning of 2023, the BMW X5 LCI undergoes some tweaks to both the exterior and interior.
The front end stands out with the signature kidney grille of BMW, but the front bumper has been redesigned to look more square and rugged. The headlights have also been slimmed down and incorporate LED daytime running lights that create arrow-shaped lighting signatures.
The rear of the car features updated LED taillights, otherwise the design remains unchanged from the previous version.
Inside the cabin, the facelifted BMW X5 2023 receives a comprehensive upgrade with a curved digital instrument cluster. The 12.3-inch instrument cluster and the 14.9-inch center display are integrated with the latest iDrive operating system. The gear lever has been replaced with a compact selector lever to streamline the center console area.
BMW also equips the facelifted X5 with touch-sensitive controls and voice commands to eliminate mechanical buttons.
Powering the new BMW X5 is a 3.0L inline-6 petrol engine combined with an electric motor, delivering a total output of about 380 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels through an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and a permanent 4-wheel drive system. This mild-hybrid engine makes a difference compared to the previous version.
BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury SUV. When it arrives in Vietnam, it will compete with rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q7, and Volvo XC90.
