Avatr Technology, formerly a joint venture between Changan and Nio, was established in 2018. Each party held 50% of the company. Nio withdrew from the company two years later due to financial difficulties. In 2021, Changan introduced a new partner to replace Nio – battery giant CATL, and later the well-known phone manufacturer Huawei joined.
Among them, Avatr 12 is the second car of the Changan, CATL, and Huawei joint venture. It has been sold at prices ranging from 300,800 yuan to 400,800 yuan (US$42,100 – US$54,800), or 978 million to 1.3 billion Vietnamese dong in China.
Recently, information from the Changan, CATL, and Huawei joint venture shows that Avatr 12 has started to be delivered, promising to make a significant contribution to Avatr Technology’s sales in December as well as in the following months.
Sedan Avatr 12 starts delivery in China
As for Avatr 12, it is a large-sized fully electric sedan, with overall dimensions including length, width, and height of 5020/1999/1460 mm and a wheelbase of 3020 mm. Avatr 12 has two drivetrain options: RWD 230 kW and AWD 425 kW. The AWD version can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
Both versions store electricity in a 94.5 kWh battery pack from CATL, providing range of 700 km and 650 km respectively. The car can travel 200 km in 10 minutes thanks to support for high-voltage fast charging of 750V.
Inside the car, you will find an extremely long 35.4-inch CD screen that stretches from the driver to the passenger. It also has a smaller 15.6-inch center control screen. The car is equipped with Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4 cabin SW.
According to Huawei, Avatr 12 has three lidar units that input data into Huawei’s ADS 2.0 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). This system does not require HD maps and can handle 90% of driving situations in urban areas. Autonomous driving capability is one of the major selling points of the Avatr market for its customers.
