The latest teaser images give us a glimpse of the front of the new Toyota Land Cruiser with its boxy design. Right behind it is the 1980s Land Cruiser 60-series (J60). The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser features rectangular headlights reminiscent of the J60’s design. In between the headlights is a black grille.
Additionally, a new video also reveals some of the rear design of the SUV. And similar to the front, the rear of the 2025 Land Cruiser is inspired by the 60-series Land Cruiser.
Prior to this, Toyota has also released backlit photos of the new Land Cruiser posing alongside the FJ40 generation from 1960.
The proportions of the new model’s body and windows look very similar to the 2024 Lexus GX, meaning these two SUVs will share the same frame platform as their predecessors. However, the new Land Cruiser seems to have redesigned its body to differentiate itself from its sibling. The front end is more square-shaped with smaller and lower headlights, possibly connected to the grille.
At the rear, the taillights are larger but still retain the classic style, combined with a high-raised bumper that reminds us of previous Land Cruiser generations.
The interior is likely to offer a three-row configuration with seven seats, combining practicality with the latest Toyota’s technology features.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 2025 is expected to share the TNGA-F platform with the Lexus GX and other SUV models, as well as other pickup trucks from the Japanese automaker. If it has the same length as the 5,005mm GX, it will be slightly larger than the currently distributed Land Cruiser J300 with a length of 4,985mm in other markets. However, the different front and rear bumper designs may alter the length of the new Land Cruiser.
As for the powertrain, it’s likely that the Land Cruiser 2025 will be equipped with a twin-turbo V6 3.4L engine, generating a maximum output of 349 horsepower, similar to the Lexus GX, and may also have the option of an i-Force Max hybrid powertrain with a combined output of 437 horsepower, as seen on the Toyota Sequoia electrified model. Regardless of the engine choice, the Land Cruiser 2025 is highly likely to come with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4WD system.
