After a long journey on the sea in containers, the vintage car convoy from the land of fog has safely arrived in Vietnam. These cars are from the Global Rally organization based in the UK. They chose Hoi An as the gathering point to begin their journey to Myanmar and back.

The convoy consists of many rare vintage cars from brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Aston Martin, along with two 1995 Toyota Land Cruisers that have been modified to have a snorkel and a Land Rover. All of these cars have UK plates and the Global Rally logo for this year.

The convoy is limited to a maximum of 25 cars to ensure easy control and all cars stay in the same hotel. The presence of the Land Cruisers is mandatory as according to the Global Rally Organization (GRO), they need 4×4 cars to support cargo and towing when necessary.

Another strict regulation by GRO is that there will be no driving at night under any circumstances. They will rest from late afternoon.

The members of the convoy include experienced automotive engineer Paul Marsh. Marsh resides in Cape Town (South Africa) but still joins the journey with the UK convoy. Marsh’s most recent “adventure” was the Siberia convoy, where they covered 20,000 km in 2 months.
