Not long ago, in Hà Nam province, China, a collision occurred between a bright orange Dongfeng Fengshen H30 Cross “grass car” and a beautiful luxury car, the Bentley Mulsanne with the license plate “quintuplet 8”. In this accident, the Chinese car, Dongfeng Fengshen H30 Cross, rear-ended the Bentley Mulsanne at a low speed, resulting in no casualties. However, the accident caused significant material damage.
The scene of the accident
At the accident scene, the Bentley Mulsanne had its rear bumper shattered and dislodged, while the Dongfeng Fengshen H30 Cross had its front bumper dislodged. Additionally, the Dongfeng Fengshen H30 Cross seemed to be leaking engine oil or coolant onto the road.
Authorities at the accident scene
After the accident, the authorities quickly arrived at the scene to document the incident. It is estimated that the cost to repair the rear bumper of the Bentley Mulsanne is around 100,000 Chinese yuan, equivalent to $14,400 or 327 million Vietnamese dong.
This is not surprising given that the Bentley Mulsanne is priced at 4.98 million Chinese yuan, equivalent to $717,000 or 16.3 billion Vietnamese dong, in the Chinese market. Compared to the Dongfeng Fengshen H30 Cross, the Bentley Mulsanne is approximately six times more expensive.
According to Chinese law, the vehicle that rear-ends another is considered at fault. If the Bentley Mulsanne was insured, the driver of the Dongfeng Fengshen H30 Cross “grass car” may not have to pay for the damages. However, if not, the driver of the Dongfeng Fengshen H30 Cross will have to bear the cost of compensation for the Bentley Mulsanne owner.

In Vietnam, the number 8 is considered the luckiest number in China. In theory, each city in China can only have one vehicle with the license plate “quintuplet 8” like the Bentley Mulsanne involved in this accident. Therefore, the “quintuplet 8” license plate is highly sought after by many wealthy individuals in China.
