On his visit to the US ahead of the APEC summit, President Xi Jinping was greeted with the Hongqi N701 – a luxury car model produced exclusively for high-ranking officials in China.
Recently, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the United States as part of the US-China Summit on the eve of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) high-level meeting, which took place from November 14-17.
The black limo carrying President Xi and the Chinese delegation traveling on the streets of San Francisco featured a rare model: the Hongqi N701. This is a large-sized sedan made by the Chinese brand Hongqi specifically for high-level leaders of the country. According to reports, Hongqi only produces 50 units of the N701 and they are used for official duties of the state.
The N701 made its first appearance in July 2022 during Xi’s visit to Hong Kong. Hongqi did not release any official information about this special sedan model. However, according to information gathered by Carscoops, the N701 is designed based on L5 and has an overall length of about 5m. As a national leader’s special-purpose vehicle, the Hongqi N701 is armored and bulletproof with glass and tires.
The Daily Mail reported that President Xi’s sedan can withstand impacts from small bombs and is equipped with an air compression system to protect this leader from chemical attacks. The technical specifications of the Hongqi N701 have not been disclosed. It is highly likely that the vehicle intended for President Xi Jinping is equipped with a V12 engine with a power output of 408 horsepower or a powerful V8 engine with 360 horsepower.
In terms of design, the Hongqi N701 is said to have many similarities with luxury models from the British brand Rolls-Royce. This is most evident in the front of the vehicle with a large-sized chrome grille and vertically placed grill grooves. The headlights have a simple design, connected to the front grille. The distinctive red flag logo of the Hongqi brand appears on the hood and the front wheel arch. The car features 21-inch chrome-plated wheels. The rear of the vehicle has rectangular-shaped LED taillights on both sides, connected by a chrome strip across the trunk lid.
Hongqi is a subsidiary brand of First Auto Works (FAW) – one of the largest automobile conglomerates in China. Every year, FAW produces millions of passenger cars, trucks, buses, and various other types of vehicles.
