A rusty Rover 90 has become a local icon in the city of Cardiff, Wales for the past 10 years. Behind this “junked” Rover 90 is a rather interesting story.

The Rover 90 has been sitting on the roadside for 10 years.

Documents show that the Rover 90 was registered in 1956.

According to records, this old and worn-out Rover 90 was registered in 1956, which means it is at least 60 years old. The special thing is that the Rover 90 has been parked on the roadside for 10 years, yet it is still fully taxed and insured.

The first owner of this “junked” car was Mr. Dennis Desmond, a miner living in Wales. However, Mr. Desmond often had to go to South Africa for work, so he didn’t use the Rover 90 for many years.

Afterwards, the old and rusty Rover 90 was sold to a new owner, who is Mr. Andrew Barnes’ mother, aged 51. According to Mr. Barnes, the Rover 90 has been parked on the roadside at his home for at least 10 years.

Mr. Desmond sold the Rover 90 to my mother. Then, my mother left the car for me“, said Mr. Barnes.

Despite the rust, this Rover 90 can still run. Mr. Barnes wants to restore the Rover 90, but he can’t find a workshop that is willing to do it.

Before, I had the intention to abandon the car. However, I think it would be disgraceful to do so. I want to fully restore the car and I’m still thinking about it. However, I haven’t found a place to restore the car“, Mr. Barnes confirmed.

This car is still fully taxed and insured.

Over time, the people of Cardiff have become accustomed to the sight of the Rover 90 parked on the roadside. “I think everyone in Cardiff knows this car. My niece told me that she has seen pictures of the car posted on Facebook. Unfortunately, I don’t use Facebook“, added Mr. Barnes.
