For car enthusiasts, vintage cars always have a special allure that few can resist. Recently, one of the most valuable vintage cars of all time was put up for auction, fetching a staggering $22 million (approximately 512 billion VND).

This rare model is called the SSJ 1935 and was produced by the American luxury car brand Duesenberg in the 90s. Only 2 units of the SSJ 1935 were ever manufactured by Duesenberg, as gifts for the legendary Hollywood actors Clark Gable and Gary Cooper.

The SSJ 1935 weighs about 2.4 tons, equivalent to the weight of a Bentley Continental GT 2018 supercar.

The car is equipped with a supercharged 8-cylinder inline engine with a displacement of 6.9L, equivalent to modern supercars, despite achieving only 400 horsepower. Some sources claim that this supercar can reach a top speed of 225.3 km/h, making it one of the fastest commercial vehicles of that time.

Unfortunately, due to the effects of the 1929 economic recession, the Duesenberg brand and its products were forgotten in the global car market.

However, the magnificent SSJ 1935 car has overcome the challenges of time, becoming a sought-after vintage car.

At the Monterey car event in California, USA, the SSJ 1935 was auctioned by Gooding & Company for a record-breaking $22 million (approximately 512 billion VND), simultaneously breaking the records for the most expensive American car and the highest-priced vintage car at present. With the auction price of $22 million, the SSJ 1935 also officially surpassed the previous record of $13.75 million for the sports car Shelby Cobra CSX 2000 in 2016.
