Both Hyundai and Kia have seen strong sales growth in 2023. This provides a solid foundation for both companies to aim for even greater success in 2024.

The two largest Korean car brands, Hyundai and Kia, have had a successful 2023 with strong sales growth. According to statistics, Hyundai’s total vehicle sales in 2023 reached 4,216,680 units, a 6.9% increase compared to 2022. The company’s sales in its home country, South Korea, grew by 10.6% to 688,884 vehicles. Meanwhile, sales in international markets reached 3,254,038 vehicles, a 6.2% increase compared to 2022.

Hyundai’s plan for 2024 is to produce 4,243,000 vehicles globally, including 704,000 vehicles in South Korea and 3,539,000 vehicles in other markets.

Kia also had a fantastic year in 2023, setting a record for global sales with 3,085,771 vehicles delivered to customers, a 6.3% increase compared to 2022. Sales in South Korea increased by 4.6% to 538,822 vehicles, while sales in international markets rose by 6.7% to 2,516,383 vehicles.

In 2024, Kia plans to produce 3.2 million vehicles globally, including 530,000 vehicles in South Korea, 2.63 million vehicles in international markets, and 7,000 special-purpose vehicles.

To achieve their sales targets, both Hyundai and Kia will introduce new models in different markets. For Hyundai, the Tucson recently received a mid-cycle refresh in its home market and is expected to be launched globally in the coming months. The urban crossover Casper EV will be introduced in Europe and sold alongside Hyundai Bayon and i30. In addition, the large electric SUV Ioniq 7 is ready for production and may be launched internationally this year.

Meanwhile, Kia is also busy with upgrade plans for the Morning, K3, K5, Sorento, and Carnival models, and the introduction of new electric models EV3, EV4, and EV5. The completely new sedan model Kia K4, which replaces the Forte, is also being planned for introduction.
