According to some sources, VinFast is planning to establish an electric battery factory in Tamil Nadu state, Thoothukudi city, India this year.
Currently, VinFast has not made any statements about this information, and the company’s representative only said that they will disclose their plan details “at the appropriate time.”
A senior official directly involved in this issue in India said on Tuesday: “Some representatives of VinFast have come to Thoothukudi district in Tamil Nadu to inspect the locations.”
Earlier, in September 2023, VinFast started recruiting sales, legal, and support positions in India, seeking newcomers who are “daring to think, daring to do, and daring to face difficulties.”
The scale of investment and when VinFast’s factory in India will begin operations is still unknown.
In October 2023, the Vietnamese automaker expressed its intention to establish an electric vehicle manufacturing facility in India. Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy, CEO of VinFast, said that the electric vehicle manufacturing plant in India is expected to have an initial capacity of about 50,000 vehicles per year and an investment of about 150 – 200 million USD (3.6 – 5 trillion VND). According to the plan, these plants will start operating in 2026.
