The SUV coupe segment in the Vietnam market is still quite niche, and that is why the presence of the Lynk & Co 05 at the Lynk & Co showroom’s opening event in Ho Chi Minh City last night has received the attention of consumers.
Especially, this is a C-segment SUV coupe, where the Peugeot 408 has been introduced to the Vietnamese market since October last year with 3 versions, and its price is also much cheaper than that of the Chinese car. Therefore, the biggest barrier for the Lynk & Co 05 could be the price when it comes to conquering Vietnamese customers.
Price comparison between Lynk & Co 05 and its competitors
The Lynk & Co 05 is officially priced at 1,599,000,000 Vietnamese dong, thus, compared to its main competitor, the Peugeot 408, the car is priced higher by 330 million to 580 million Vietnamese dong.
Specifically, the Peugeot 408 currently has 3 versions with prices of 1,019,000,000 Vietnamese dong for the standard version, 1,119,000,000 Vietnamese dong for the Premium version, and 1,269,000,000 Vietnamese dong for the GT version.
Exterior design of the Lynk & Co 05
For an amount of 1.6 billion Vietnamese dong, customers will receive a very eye-catching C-segment SUV coupe with first a horizontal LED headlight cluster placed on the grille with vertical slats, thanks to that, it shows that this is an older generation, not the 2023 version, with a new grille called “urban fusion space” with a strong diagonal mesh layout that highlights the sporty characteristics of the car more than the previous version.
Next is the dual-striped LED daytime running lights placed high up, with a very dynamic design. In addition, the Lynk & Co 05 is also equipped with an adaptive headlight system, automatic on/off, automatic high/low beam adjustment, and waiting guidance.
On the side, the Lynk & Co 05 impresses with its sloping roof design, 20-inch wheels, and contrasting dual-color paint.
The next highlight of this C-segment SUV coupe is the matrix LED taillights that run the entire length of the car and look very powerful.
The Lynk & Co 05 launched in Vietnam is the standard version, so it does not have the additional air deflector at the rear like the Lynk & Co 05 Plus version. The rear diffuser has a sporty design, with a shiny single round exhaust pipe placed symmetrically.
The Lynk & Co 05 shares the same platform as the Lynk & Co 01 and the Volvo XC40, with dimensions of 4,592 x 1,879 x 1,628 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,734 mm. Compared to the Lynk & Co 01, this model is longer, wider, and lower while having the same wheelbase.
Interior of the car
Entering the cabin, the Lynk & Co 05 has a 5-seater interior, with seats and steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather, giving a premium look. In China, the most expensive version is also equipped with Alcantara seat leather. Next is the 12-way power-adjustable/heated/cooled driver seat and 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat.
The entertainment system of the Lynk & Co 05 includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch floating touchscreen display, and a full range of functions. The car is also equipped with a Harman Infinity Audio 10-speaker sound system and wireless phone charging.
Powertrain of the car
The “heart” of the Lynk & Co 05 available in the Vietnamese market has only one engine, which is a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, with a maximum power of 254 horsepower at 5,500 RPM and a maximum torque of 350 Nm in the RPM range of 1,800 – 4,800. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a fully-time AWD system, while consuming an average of 7.8 liters of fuel per 100 km. The car has a total of 4 driving modes.
In addition, in the domestic market, the Lynk & Co 05 is also equipped with a plug-in hybrid system including a 1.5T engine and an electric motor, providing a maximum power of up to 148 horsepower. It is also equipped with an energy storage system with a level 3 lithium-ion battery-nickel-cobalt-manganese chemistry.
Besides luxury amenities, the Lynk & Co 05’s highlights are its technology and safety features such as ABS braking system, parking assist, collision warning, electronic stability, and multiple driver assistance sensors.
