Recently, a millionaire in Binh Duong province splurged on a luxurious SUV, the Mercedes-AMG G63. Not only that, but this G63 is also equipped with the license plate “8888” 61K-288.88, which was previously sold at an auction for a whopping 745 million VND (approximately $32,500).
According to research, the owner of this Mercedes-AMG G63 is a business couple specializing in the food industry in Binh Duong. This luxury SUV was produced in 2021 and was bought from a dealer specializing in used luxury cars in Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, the selling price of a used Mercedes-AMG G63 ranges from 6 to 11 billion VND (approximately $261,000 to $478,000), depending on the year of manufacture, vehicle condition, and location of sale.
The Mercedes-AMG G63 is one of the luxury car models that is particularly favored by Vietnamese millionaires. The car is equipped with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, with a capacity of 4.0 liters, generating a maximum power of 577 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 850 Nm at 2,500 – 3,500 rpm. It comes with a 9-speed AMG Speedshift Plus automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. This luxury SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 220 km/h.
The license plate 61K-288.88 was included in the auction list on October 13, 2023, announced by the Vietnam VPA Auction Company, with a reserve price of 1.18 billion VND (approximately $51,500). However, the winning bidder withdrew the deposit, and the license plate was put up for auction again on November 14, 2023. In the second auction, the special license plate “8888” was successfully sold for an impressive amount of 745 million VND (approximately $32,500).
