Artificial intelligence is increasingly developing and appearing in many areas of life. Recently, Mercedes has collaborated with Microsoft to enhance the voice command system with the help of ChatGPT.
The AI tool ChatGPT improves the voice assistant in Mercedes. Most voice assistants in cars are limited by preloaded data, but ChatGPT allows for expanding topics and better understanding of natural language.
Mercedes owners can now sign up to participate in this pilot program starting from June 19th. Currently, this is a trial program and only available to customers in the United States.
Markus Schafer, the chief technology officer of Mercedes, mentioned that the company’s beta program will enhance familiar features of Hey Mercedes such as navigation and weather information with the help of ChatGPT. Mercedes suggests that users can also ask for more specific information about destinations and cooking recipes.
In terms of security, user information and questions will be anonymized before being sent to Microsoft’s cloud storage database.
This pilot program is expected to last for 3 months. The collected data will help improve the voice assistant system in Mercedes cars as well as enhance ChatGPT’s database. Currently, the German car manufacturer has not provided information on when they will deploy this intelligent technology for customers in other regions.
