According to some sales advice, the new generation BMW 5-Series model may be introduced in the Vietnamese market in the second half of this year.
The car will be distributed in the form of domestic assembly, similar to the current generation. However, Thaco, the BMW distributor in Vietnam, has not yet confirmed.
In addition to the traditional combustion engine-powered BMW 5-Series, BMW also has a pure electric version called the BMW i5.
Overall, apart from the differences in grilles and engines, the BMW i5 and the gasoline-powered 5-Series models share the same exterior and interior. Both are developed on BMW’s CLAR platform.
In this new generation, the BMW 5-Series has significantly increased in size. The length of the car has increased by 86.4mm to 5,060mm. Of which, the wheelbase accounts for 2,995mm, an increase of 20mm.
The design of the 2024 BMW 5-Series has been greatly refined compared to the previous generation. The car possesses a powerful exterior, with bold cut and crease lines. The headlights and grille have also been significantly upgraded.
While the changes in the exterior are still relatively subtle, in the interior, BMW engineers have completely refreshed this model. The interior of the BMW 5-Series and I5 2024 are the same, featuring a large dual-screen display and the intelligent BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, accompanied by the latest iDrive 8.5 operating system.
In addition, the car also has a range of other premium features such as gesture control and voice command, panoramic sunroof, and a compact gear lever to replace the traditional shifter.
Especially, in this upgrade, the new generation 5-Series brings users more exciting experiences with the feature of playing games in the car while it is parked, such as while the car is parked to recharge the battery.
In addition, i5 users will have the opportunity to use the highly responsive touch-sensitive Interaction Bar, similar to the one in the 7-Series. This control bar runs along the dashboard and can be used to adjust the air conditioning. For gasoline-powered 5-Series models, this is an optional feature.
The 5-Series will still have multiple versions and engine configurations. In the US, the standard 520i uses a 2.0L engine with 188 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. The 520i for Europe uses a 2.0L mild hybrid engine with 205 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque.
Meanwhile, the 530i uses a 2.0L mild hybrid engine with 255 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The pure electric i5 will be equipped with a single engine with 335 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque.
According to the company, the i5 and the 2024 5-Series are the first cars in the world to be equipped with an active lane change support system that integrates eye confirmation.
The car can suggest lane changes, and the driver can confirm this by looking at the exterior mirror to confirm the lane change. When traffic conditions permit, the active lane change support system can automatically perform lane change steering movements.
In addition, the latest 5-Series is equipped with a parking assist feature with automatic reversing assistance. When the professional parking assist mode is activated, automatic parking operations up to 200 meters can be controlled from inside the car or by using a smartphone from outside the car.
