According to a previous announcement, the Lexus brand has plans to only sell electric cars globally by 2035. In order to gradually achieve this ambitious goal, the Lexus brand has continuously introduced its RZ electric models in many markets.

Recently, the Lexus brand has also registered an industrial design for the RZ electric car in the Vietnamese market. In the future, this luxury electric SUV may be sold in Vietnam.

The Lexus RZ is a mid-size electric SUV that was first introduced in April 2022. Initially, this model only had one version, the RZ 450e. By December 2023, Lexus had added a cheaper version called the RZ 300e to this model in the Japanese market.

The Lexus RZ is based on the e-TNGA platform, similar to the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra. Therefore, this model is considered the luxury version of the Toyota bZ4X.

The Lexus RZ has a length of 4,805 mm and a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. With these dimensions, the car is seen as a direct competitor to the Mercedes EQC currently being sold in Vietnam.

Although it shares the same platform with the Toyota bZ4X, the Lexus RZ has a completely different design. The car still features Lexus’ distinctive design elements such as the spindle-shaped grille and the sleek LED headlights, integrated with LED daytime running lights in the shape of the letter “L”. However, as an electric vehicle, this SUV only comes with a fully closed grille at the front of the car.

In addition, the slim taillights are connected by a horizontal light strip. The rear trunk does not have the Lexus logo, but instead is replaced by an embossed lettering similar to other models of the same brand.

Inside the RZ, the interior is designed according to Lexus’ familiar “Tazuna” theme. Therefore, all details in the cockpit are oriented towards the steering wheel.

This luxury electric SUV is equipped with a 5-seater interior with Ultrasuede leather seats, a digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment screen, a rotary gear shift knob, electric tailgate, electronic parking brake, ambient interior lighting, automatic air conditioning, and a panoramic sunroof with anti-glare function.

The RZ’s powertrain will vary depending on the version. In the RZ 300e version, the car only uses 1 electric motor located on the front axle with a maximum power of 201 horsepower and a peak torque of 266 Nm. The 71.4 kWh battery pack provides a driving range of 599 km on a full charge according to the WLTC test cycle for the Lexus RZ 300e when equipped with 18-inch wheels.

Meanwhile, the Lexus RZ 450e is equipped with 2 electric motors located on both axles, with a total power of 309 horsepower and a peak torque of 435 Nm. This version also features a Direct4 all-wheel drive system. Although it uses the same battery as the RZ 300e, the Lexus RZ 450e has a range of only 450 km.

Finally, there are safety technologies in the Lexus Safety System+ package such as active steering assist, early collision avoidance, all-speed dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, traffic jam assist, remote parking, and driver attention alert.

In the Japanese market, the starting price for the Lexus RZ 300e is 8.2 million yen (about 1.361 billion VND), while the corresponding figure for the RZ 450e is 8.8 million yen (about 1.46 billion VND).
