According to reliable sources, the Peugeot 408 crossover model is set to make its debut in Vietnam on October 21.
Similar to its siblings, the 2008, 3008, and 5008, the Peugeot 408 will be locally assembled. Sales consultants suggest that the price of this model will range from VND 999 million to VND 1,249 billion.
The Peugeot 408 is positioned as a C-segment SUV, with dimensions of 4,690 x 1,859 x 1,480 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,787 mm.
The 2023 Peugeot 408 boasts a modern design characterized by a sloping roof, distinctive body lines, and bold curves. Its front fascia stands out with a frameless grille, sleek LED matrix headlights, as well as LED daytime running strips that resemble characteristic fangs. The rear of the car features Peugeot’s signature 3-stripe LED taillights.
Moving on to the interior, the 2023 Peugeot 408 offers a 5-seat configuration with a range of advanced features. These include a digital instrument cluster with a 10-inch screen behind the steering wheel, a 10-inch touch screen infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, software updates via WiFi, and voice control.
Moreover, the Peugeot 408 2023 comes equipped with a metal trim gear lever, a panoramic power-adjustable sunroof, a 690W Focal sound system with 10 speakers, wireless charging, 4 USB ports, LED ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield.
In the European market, the Peugeot 408 offers 3 engine options, including 2 plug-in hybrid versions and a gasoline version. However, it remains uncertain which engine option will be available in Vietnam. It is expected that the car will be powered by a 1.2L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine, generating a maximum power of 130 horsepower and a peak torque of 230 Nm. This engine will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Previously, the Peugeot 408 was introduced in Vietnam as a C-segment sedan but was later discontinued due to low sales performance.
Now, the Peugeot 408 is making a comeback in the C-segment high-riding category, where it will compete with rivals such as the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Haval H6 HEV.
