Seibu Keisatsu, a TV program launched in Japan in the early 80s, became a sensation with its thrilling high-speed chases and police action. Sponsoring the show, Nissan proudly showcased some of its cars from the Heritage Collection, which had featured in the series, as part of an event organized to celebrate an upcoming book release.
Featuring prominently among the displayed vehicles was the modified Nissan 280ZX with striking gullwing doors and even a mounted machine gun on the hood. The car’s interior was equipped with a range of computer systems, although it remains unclear if they were functional during the show.
As for the Nissan Skyline, it closely resembled its original version. However, it retained a fierce and assertive appearance, enhanced by distinctive decals, additional lights on both sides, an enlarged antenna, and a vibrant red paint job.
In addition, the convertible version of the Nissan Gazelle, reintroduced as a special edition, boasted a unique feature for its time – a built-in telephone in the cabin. While commonplace today, such a technological advancement was considered a luxury back in the 80s.
