Arrest and temporary confinement of Ngoc Trinh, the famous “lingerie queen”

Ho Chi Minh City police have filed charges and have temporarily detained Ngoc Trinh, also known as the "lingerie queen", and Tran Xuan Dong, a motorcycle instructor. The investigation is focused on their alleged use of counterfeit documents and the disturbance they may have caused.

On October 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department’s Investigation Agency issued a decision to initiate criminal proceedings against model Tran Thi Ngoc Trinh for “Disturbing public order” and “Using fake documents of agencies and organizations”. They also issued a search warrant and a warrant for her arrest and temporary detention for the offense of “Disturbing public order” as stated in Article 318 of the Penal Code.

The Investigation Agency of the Ho Chi Minh City Police also decided to initiate criminal proceedings against Tran Xuan Dong for the offense of “Using fake documents of agencies and organizations” and “Disturbing public order” as prescribed in Articles 314 and 318 of the Penal Code. They also issued a search warrant and imposed a ban on leaving the residence.

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Procuracy has approved the initiation of criminal proceedings and on the afternoon of October 19, the above-mentioned decisions and warrants were enforced.

Model Ngoc Trinh has been detained by the Ho Chi Minh City Police for “Disturbing public order”

The Ho Chi Minh City Police, in coordination with the Traffic Police Department and the Police of Thu Duc City, are investigating and resolving information related to crimes involving the control of large displacement motorcycles and dangerous actions on the roads in the Thu Duc City area by Tran Thi Ngoc Trinh, also known as the lingerie model. These activities were recorded and spread on social media, causing public outrage.

During the investigation process, it was found that Ngoc Trinh did not possess a valid A2 motorcycle driver’s license. On October 6, Ngoc Trinh and Tran Xuan Dong organized and performed a motorcycle stunt with the license plate 59A3-115.88 (BMW brand, 999 cc displacement) on the D15 road in the Hi-Tech Park area of Ho Chi Minh City. They performed dangerous driving movements without protective gear, such as lying down and kneeling on the seat of the bike. These acts were recorded on video and uploaded to social media, which caused public outrage.

Prior to that, in early September 2023, Tran Xuan Dong and Tran Thi Ngoc Trinh organized a gathering and performed dangerous motorcycle stunts on Tran Bach Dang road in Thu Thiem urban area. These stunts included standing on one leg, letting go of both hands, and sitting on one side of the seat while the bike runs on its own. These acts were also recorded and uploaded to social media.

The actions of Ngoc Trinh and Tran Xuan Dong mentioned above have caused disturbances to public security, order, and traffic safety. The People’s Committee of Thu Duc City has requested the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency to handle Ngoc Trinh and related individuals in accordance with the law.

Ngoc Trinh’s dangerous motorcycle stunts causing public outrage

It is worth mentioning that Ngoc Trinh herself recorded and edited the videos of the motorcycle stunts and uploaded them to her personal accounts on social media platforms. These accounts have a large number of followers and the videos have received millions of likes.

Ngoc Trinh uploaded 5 videos showing her controlling large displacement motorcycles with provocative and dangerous driving movements in September and October 2023. As of October 12, these videos have received thousands of likes, comments, saves, and shares.

Furthermore, Ngoc Trinh’s videos were also uploaded to her Facebook account and Fanpage, attracting thousands of interactions and shares. The explicit videos spread on the internet, with numerous posts and articles on Facebook and websites, as well as related videos on YouTube. The public opinion, both in mainstream media and online platforms, strongly condemned Ngoc Trinh’s behavior.

The upload and dissemination of these video clips on social media have had a negative impact on security, order, and social safety. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, along with the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department, have forwarded the information and materials to the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency for necessary actions in accordance with the law.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Tran Xuan Dong had used a fake vehicle registration certificate for the motorcycle. Tran Xuan Dong admitted that he knew the certificate was counterfeit but still bought and used the motorcycle because it was cheap.

The investigation revealed that both Ngoc Trinh and Tran Xuan Dong, despite not having the necessary licenses, organized and performed dangerous motorcycle stunts on public roads, causing negative impacts on security and public order. They recorded and uploaded these videos to social media accounts followed by millions of people. Tran Xuan Dong was also involved in the purchase and use of a motorcycle with fake documents.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency will continue with the necessary investigation and verification measures to thoroughly handle the case and punish Tran Thi Ngoc Trinh, Tran Xuan Dong, and other related individuals in accordance with the law.
