The Omoda 5 EV belongs to the B-size pure electric SUV segment and directly competes with the VinFast VF 6. It is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor with 204 horsepower and a 61 kWh battery pack, giving it a maximum driving range of approximately 450 km.

Chery recently unveiled new images and details about the Omoda 5 EV, its pure electric SUV model, at the Geneva/Qatar Motor Show ahead of its launch in Europe and other markets next year. The car was initially introduced at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year.

When it comes to performance, the Omoda 5 EV boasts a front-mounted electric motor with 204 horsepower, accompanied by a 61 kWh battery pack that offers a driving range of around 450 km on a full charge.

Despite not being a performance-focused model, the Omoda 5 EV still delivers impressive acceleration, taking just 7.6 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. This electric car also features fast charging technology with a capacity of 110 kW DC, allowing the battery to reach 80% charge in approximately 30 minutes.

The overall design of the Omoda 5 EV remains quite similar to the gasoline engine version, but the front face has been refined. Notably, the car ditches the traditional grille and replaces the brand logo with prominent OMODA lettering and a new headlight design.

At the rear, the Omoda 5 EV features a large spoiler and a Chery logo positioned on the taillight bar. Additionally, the car eschews the exhaust system in favor of a clean gray-black bumper.

A few months ago, Chery confirmed that it is planning to launch the Omoda 5 in the European market, offering both electric and gasoline engine versions. The gasoline engine version will be equipped with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine boasting a 1.6-liter capacity, delivering 197 horsepower and a maximum torque of 290 Nm.

Furthermore, this pure electric CUV will also be made available in the Vietnamese market. Mr. Tocy Tang, General Director of Chery Vietnam, personally disclosed this information in April of this year. He stated that the car will be imported from Indonesia to Vietnam by the end of this year. The company is currently in negotiations with local partners for distribution and the establishment of assembly plants. In Vietnam, the Omoda 5 EV directly competes with the VinFast VF 6.
