According to The Autodaily, the President of the United States is extensively protected, even during his exercise routines. The President’s convoy, often referred to as the “mobile White House,” is equipped with a range of vehicles and support vehicles to ensure his safety and security no matter where he is in the world.

Depending on the situation, the positioning of the vehicles in the convoy will vary in order to optimize safety and efficiency. In some cases, the President may not even be inside the vehicle while the convoy is in motion. Here are the types of vehicles that are always present in the President’s convoy:

1. Route scout and escort vehicles: The route scout vehicle checks the route and provides information to the convoy, while the escort vehicle drives ahead of the convoy, often accompanied by motorcycle police officers, to clear intersections, overpasses, or highways.

2. Road-clearing vehicles: This motorcade of motorcycles or patrol cars is responsible for announcing and clearing the way ahead of the convoy, ensuring a smooth and steady speed.

3. Lead vehicles: The lead vehicle acts as the “brain” of the convoy, giving instructions and making key decisions. It acts as a buffer between the vehicle in front and the President’s vehicle. The lead vehicle can be a Secret Service suburban SUV, a designated police vehicle at the destination, or any vehicle chosen by the Secret Service.

4. Electronic warfare vehicle “Watchtower”: Equipped with antennas and a vertical mast, this vehicle actively interferes with communication signals and can remotely detonate devices. It also has a security system capable of detecting small unmanned aerial vehicles using shortwave radar. If a threat is detected, the vehicle can alert the convoy with laser beams and shortwave radar, while disrupting the attack.

5. Attack team vehicle nicknamed “Hawkeye Renegade”: This team consists of black Suburbans or other large SUVs equipped with police lights, standing platforms for agents to stand outside, and rear hatches with heavily armed and armored special forces personnel in a ready position, carrying assault rifles.

In addition to these vehicles, the President’s convoy may include support vehicles, press vehicles, vehicles for transporting intelligence personnel known as “ID Car,” vehicles from the White House Media Office called “Roadrunner,” ambulances, rear-guard security vehicles (often motorcycles or local patrol vehicles), and helicopters if necessary.

Although rarely used, there are also armored buses specially designed to serve the President and his entourage, referred to as “Ground Force One.”

This combination of vehicles ensures the highest level of safety and security for the President during his travels.
