Earlier this year in March 2022, Kia made an exciting announcement regarding their plans to introduce not one, but two all-electric pickup truck models by 2027. One of these models will be specialized, while the other will cater to emerging markets and serve as a strategic option. It is worth noting that the specialized model might be developed on a dedicated all-electric platform, whereas the other model could utilize an internal combustion engine platform.

This is an unofficial rendering of the Kia pickup truck design.

An interview with representatives from Kia Australia has revealed that the global launch of the Kia pickup truck is scheduled for 2024, with production set to commence in South Korea in the first half of 2025.

There are speculations that the “Tasman” could possibly be the strategic pickup truck model, offering consumers a choice between an internal combustion engine and an electric engine, depending on the requirements of each market.

As of now, the design of the Kia Tasman pickup truck remains shrouded in mystery, with only a limited number of heavily disguised test prototypes being spotted. From the available photos of these prototypes, it is evident that the Kia Tasman boasts a generous ground clearance, a square-shaped radiator grille, and LED daytime running lights that draw inspiration from the Mohave. Additionally, it seems that the vehicle is equipped with relatively smaller wheels.

We eagerly await more information and imagery about Kia’s upcoming all-new pickup truck in the near future.
