Teramont X is a product developed by the SAIC – Volkswagen joint venture. The car features a sporty design and is equipped with modern features, including a powerful engine with nearly 300 horsepower.
According to the plan, Volkswagen will introduce the mid-size MPV model Viloran to the Vietnamese market by the end of this year. The Viloran, produced by the SAIC – Volkswagen joint venture and imported directly from China, will be followed by several other models imported from China to Vietnam this year or early next year. One of these models is the Teramont X.
The Teramont X, also known as the Atlas Cross Sport or Teramont Cross Sport, is a variation of the Volkswagen Teramont specifically developed for Chinese customers. Produced by SAIC – Volkswagen, it is built on Volkswagen’s MQB platform and measures 4,917 x 1,989 x 1,729 mm (length x width x height) with a wheelbase of 2,980 mm.
The Teramont X boasts a youthful and sporty design, featuring a sleek slope towards the rear in SUV-coupe style. The car is equipped with a twin-layer LED matrix headlight cluster incorporating Volkswagen’s signature “L” shaped LED daytime running lights. While the horizontal grille remains, the chrome strip has been removed for a more rugged appearance. The SUV model offers various design options for its wheels, ranging from 18 to 21 inches. The rear of the vehicle showcases modern taillights connected by a glossy black strip. The rear bumper is square, and it features two faux exhaust tips.
Despite its large size, the Volkswagen Teramont X only has a two-row seating configuration with 5 seats. Nevertheless, the car has a spacious luggage compartment with a volume of 540 liters or 1,719 liters when the rear seats are folded.
The interior features and layout of the Teramont X are more modern compared to the currently available version in Vietnam. The prominent equipment in this SUV model includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch center touchscreen, a Harman Kardon 12-speaker sound system, a head-up display, electronic parking brake, and wireless phone charging capabilities.
In the Chinese market, the Teramont X offers two engine options. The first is a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 220 horsepower and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. The second option is a 2.5L V6 petrol engine with turbocharging, producing 299 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 4Motion all-wheel drive system. The average fuel consumption of the 2.0L engine is 8.64 liters/100 km, while the V6 version consumes an average of 9.7 liters/100 km.
In the Chinese market, the Volkswagen Teramont X is currently sold at prices ranging from 284,900 to 395,000 Chinese Yuan (equivalent to approximately 966 million to 1.34 billion VND). Meanwhile, the Teramont currently sold in Vietnam is imported as a whole unit from the US and priced at 2.349 billion VND.
