Honda Vietnam ramps up motorcycle sports activities for 2022 season

HVN is proud to announce its continued sponsorship of the Vietnam Motor Racing Championship (VMRC). In international competitions, Honda Racing Vietnam aims to compete in the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) and make its debut in the Asia Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup. Additionally, the team will continue to participate in training at regional and continental events such as the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance, Sepang 8 Hours Endurance, and Thailand Talent Cup (TTC).

Domestic competitions: Sponsorship of the Vietnam Motor Racing Championship 2022 (VMRC 2022)

The 2022 season marks the 4th year of HVN’s sponsorship of the Vietnam Motor Racing Championship (VMRC). VMRC is a season-based racing series with race results accumulated based on points earned from races held at standard and professional racing tracks such as 2K Racing Circuit (Binh Duong) and Dai Nam Racing Circuit (Binh Duong).

After 3 successful seasons, VMRC is introducing a completely new category, CBR150R, in the 2022 season to align with races in other countries in the region. The Vietnamese racing team has also upgraded its category. The expected schedule of the Vietnam Motor Racing Championship 2022 is as follows:

International competitions: Asia Road Racing Championship 2022 (ARRC 2022)

The Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) has been running since 1996 and is considered one of the most prestigious racing events in Asia and Oceania. The championship includes 4 racing categories: UB150, AP250, SS600, and ASB1000.

In the ARRC 2022 season, Honda Racing Vietnam will compete in the UB150 and AP250 categories, aiming for strong results after being impacted by the pandemic.

The Honda Racing Vietnam team participating in the ARRC 2022 competition comprises the following riders: Rider Nguyen Duc Thanh #193 (UB150 category), Rider Nguyen Anh Tuan #178 (UB150 category), and Rider Cao Viet Nam #65 (AP250 category).

Honda Racing Vietnam will compete in all 6 races of the UB150 and AP250 categories. The overall schedule for the 2022 season is as follows:

Training activities

In line with its goal of professionalizing motorcycle sports activities in Vietnam and aligning with international standards, HVN focuses on developing and training riders and building a robust motorcycle sports scene in Vietnam through the following initiatives:

Training young riders domestically

Honda Racing Vietnam riders actively participate in training young riders in the Vietnam Talent Cup category, a race within the VMRC. This initiative aims to identify potential talents for the Honda Racing Vietnam international racing team.

Participating in the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup 2022 (IATC)

Vietnam’s motorcycle sports scene recently achieved a significant milestone with the selection of Nguyen Tran Duc Tai, the first young Vietnamese rider, to compete in the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup 2022 (IATC). The IATC is organized by Dorna Sport, the same organizer as MotoGP, and serves as a pathway for young and talented riders from Asia to compete in the Moto3, Moto2, and MotoGP categories, the pinnacle of the MotoGP racing series.

The IATC 2022 season is scheduled to commence in February 2022, with the following expected race schedule:

Dispatching technicians to participate in Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance EWC 2021 – 2022 and Sepang 8 Hours Endurance EWC 2022-2023

Since 2017, HVN has been sending a representative technician to join the technical team of Honda Asia – Dream Racing with SHOWA, aiming to help team technicians gain more experience and skills in major international races. For the upcoming season, a technician from the Honda Racing Vietnam team is expected to participate in both the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance in July 2022 and Sepang 8 Hours Endurance in December 2022.

Participating in the Thailand Talent Cup 2022 (TTC)

The Thailand Talent Cup is an annual domestic race organized by AP Honda in Thailand. Since 2018, AP Honda has provided opportunities for riders from Honda companies in the region to participate in races, helping them enhance their experience and skills to meet international standards.

Young rider Nguyen Ton Anh Phu, the defending champion of VMRC 2020 in the Vietnam Talent Cup category, continues the success of Honda Racing Vietnam by competing in this race. The specific race schedule will be announced in the near future.

When Honda CBR250RR, ridden by Vietnamese racer Cao Viet Nam, crossed the finish line in Race 2 of the opening round of the 2023 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC), the entire team erupted with joy. Even the “madman” himself couldn’t contain his emotions at that moment, as it was the first time that rider number 65 and the Honda Racing Vietnam team had secured a top-four finish in the AP250 category after years of competing in this championship.
