The SUGO race track, nicknamed the “roller coaster,” presents a formidable challenge for the Honda Racing Vietnam team with its 14 tight corners and constant uphill and downhill stretches. The team’s performance in Race 3 reflects the difficulty of the track.

Despite the challenges, the team managed to earn 10 points and gain valuable experience in the demanding conditions. This experience will prove invaluable in the remaining two stages of the ARRC 2022 season and future seasons.

Endeavoring to score valuable points at SUGO for the first time

Prior to racing at SUGO, the riders and the Honda Racing Vietnam team only had information provided by the organizers about the track. The team had a mere three days to familiarize themselves with the surroundings, while the three riders, Cao Viet Nam, Nguyen Anh Tuan, and Nguyen Duc Thanh, could only walk around and visualize their race strategy.

Rider Cao Viet Nam earns an additional 8 points in Race 3 of the ARRC 2022.

“I did two laps around the track to assess the roads and corners, and the team calculated the appropriate racing style,” shared rider Cao Viet Nam.

SUGO presents a significant challenge for rider #65.

“SUGO is a major challenge. The road surface is pristine, but due to its hilly terrain, there are numerous twisting corners and continuous slopes, making it difficult to anticipate the next turn. Therefore, accurate calculation and the choice of the right racing style are crucial for achieving favorable results,” shared rider Cao Viet Nam.

“Corners 9 and 10 pose the biggest challenges, not only because of the slopes but also due to the two consecutive high-speed left turns,” added rider #65.

Continued efforts enabled Cao Viet Nam to finish 11th in Race 1.

A standout moment in Race 3 was Cao Viet Nam’s determination to persevere through adverse weather and treacherous road conditions in Race 1. This commendable effort helped him secure an 11th place finish and an additional 5 points in the AP250 standings for Honda Racing Vietnam.

In the UB150 category, rider Nguyen Anh Tuan secured 2 points with a 14th place finish in Race 2.

Rider Nguyen Anh Tuan also earned 2 points with a 14th place finish in Race 2.

“After competing in this challenging race, I have gained a wealth of experience and believe that I will improve in the final stages of the season,” stated rider Nguyen Anh Tuan.

With the accumulated experience from Race 3, Anh Tuan is confident of achieving better results in the remaining 2 stages of the season.

After the first 3 stages of the ARRC 2022 season, Cao Viet Nam has accumulated 34 points in the AP250 category, placing him 11th out of 21 riders.

Nguyen Duc Thanh has earned 11 points after the first 3 stages of the ARRC 2022 season.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Anh Tuan has earned 18 points, while Nguyen Duc Thanh has accumulated 11 points.

Stage 4 of the ARRC 2022 season is scheduled to take place at the Sepang race track (Malaysia) in October.
