The trend of coupe-SUVs shows no signs of slowing down as automakers continue to introduce new models to meet customer demand. One of the latest additions to this category is the second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, which features a sleeker design while sharing its platform with the regular GLC SUV.

As expected, the front of the GLC Coupe resembles the SUV version, while the sloping roofline and rear end have been redesigned for a distinctive look. The car boasts an aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of 0.27 Cd, an improvement over the previous model’s 0.30 Cd. Additionally, the car is 4,763mm long, 31mm longer than its predecessor.

Although the new model maintains the typical Mercedes coupe-SUV ratio, it appears sleeker and more elegant compared to its predecessor. This is mainly attributed to the thinner LED taillights connected by a black outline, a design feature shared with the GLC and the entire EQ product line.

Other notable features of the 2024 GLC Coupe include a rear spoiler, a prominent rear bumper with faux air vents, plastic trim, and various chrome details around the dual exhaust pipes and diffuser.

Mercedes has released images of a GLC Coupe equipped with the AMG Line package, which includes the Panamericana grille, sporty bumper, and 19-inch alloy wheels. This package is standard equipment in the US market.

The interior carries a familiar look with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a color head-up display (HUD), and an 11.9-inch touchscreen featuring the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system. Additionally, the car comes standard with a 3D Burmester surround sound system boasting 15 speakers and 710 watts.

The standard luggage capacity is 545 liters, 45 liters more than the previous generation but 75 liters smaller than the regular GLC version.

In terms of powertrain options, there are notable differences between the GLC Coupe variants offered in the North American and European markets. In the US, the car is available as the GLC 300 4Matic Coupe, powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power of 255 horsepower and a peak torque of 400 Nm. It is combined with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that adds an additional 23 horsepower and 248 Nm when needed.

Meanwhile, the European market offers greater product variations, including four mild hybrid and three plug-in hybrid options. The 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine generates a maximum power of 201 horsepower in the standard GLC version. The more powerful GLC 300 has the same specifications as the US version. The 2.0L turbodiesel engine produces a maximum power of 194 horsepower in the GLC 200d version or 265 horsepower in the GLC 300d version, and both benefit from the support of the 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

For the PHEV variants, all are equipped with a single electric motor that generates a maximum power of 134 horsepower and a 31.2 kWh battery pack. The GLC 300e has a combined output of 308 horsepower, the GLC 400e increases it to 375 horsepower, and the GLC 300de combines a diesel engine with an electric motor for a power output of 328 horsepower.

All versions of the GLC Coupe come standard with sport suspension and sport steering. They inherit the 4Matic all-wheel drive system and electronic features from the regular GLC, in addition to available ADAS.

Mercedes has not yet released pricing information for the new GLC Coupe.
