Recently, the internet community has been sharing pictures of a silver-colored Mercedes-Benz 190SL in Saigon. This has surprised many people because this model is 55 years old and is considered rare in Vietnam.
The Mercedes-Benz 190SL was in production from 1955 to 1963, after which it was replaced by the 230SL. During its 9-year lifespan, a total of 25,881 Mercedes-Benz 190SL cars were manufactured and sold worldwide, with Vietnamese tycoons owning only 2 units.
This gray-colored car is one of the two Mercedes-Benz 190SL cars in Vietnam. The other one has a shiny black exterior, brown interior, and is owned by a tycoon in Ninh Binh. This tycoon is also the first person in Vietnam to own a genuine Bentley Bentayga.
In addition to its classic silver exterior, this car also features an eye-catching red interior.
The Mercedes-Benz 190SL was considered the “affordable” version of the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300SL gull-wing model. It has overall dimensions of 4,290 mm in length, 1,740 mm in width, and 1,320 mm in height.
Based on the 6-cylinder in-line engine design of the 300SL, the Mercedes-Benz 190SL is equipped with a 4-cylinder in-line SOHC engine, with a displacement of 1.9 liters. It is naturally aspirated and produces 104 horsepower and 142 Nm of torque. The car is equipped with a 4-speed transmission.

Rebirth of a discarded car into an “unparalleled” vehicle
The group of students has repainted the Fiat and completely replaced its engine. Instead of keeping the original 1.1-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine, these young individuals have replaced it with an electric motor. This allows the car to travel for a long period of time and become more environmentally friendly.
