In the past 5 years, many people have been able to easily own a supercar for less than 10 billion VND. These models are old, and by borrowing from banks, they are able to afford to ride Ferraris, McLarens, or Lamborghinis, which has made many people admire them. However, the fact is that old supercars may have attractive prices, but the cost of maintaining them, including replacing genuine parts when they break down, is also very expensive, not much different from buying a new car.
Let’s take the case of the owner of a limited edition McLaren 765LT Spider supercar, one of 765 units worldwide. He bought the car brand new and unfortunately, it was hit by a Honda Lead while driving on the road, which shows that the cost of maintaining a supercar is not cheap. The consequence of this traffic accident is that the rear bumper of the McLaren 765LT Spider was damaged.
If you think that this broken bumper can be welded or repaired, then you are mistaken. The entire rear bumper of the McLaren 765LT Spider is made of carbon fiber, and it will be repainted to match the exterior color. Carbon fiber cannot be patched, so the only option is to replace it.
The cost of replacing the rear bumper as well as some minor damages of the McLaren 765LT Spider in this collision is nearly 3 billion VND. Hearing this amount, many people may be shocked because it is very expensive, even nearly 1/10 of the value of this McLaren 765LT Spider.
It is not clear how the owner of the McLaren 765LT Spider, the only one in Vietnam, will handle this incident. If repaired, it will cost more than 2.8 billion VND, or if left as is, the appearance of the car will be affected. Here, the saying “Playing with a supercar is easy, but maintaining it is difficult” is indeed true.
If you don’t know anything about the McLaren 765LT Spider, it is a limited edition convertible supercar manufactured by the British carmaker, with only 765 cars produced worldwide. The car that came to Vietnam is one of them, owned by a supercar enthusiast who is quite secretive but owns expensive car models.
The exterior of this McLaren 765LT Spider has a red-orange paint color along with many carbon details, and black paint on the hood, front bumper, wheels, air intakes on the wheel arches, side skirts, rear diffuser, and also a rear wing. Finally, the entire roof is painted black.

Compared to the McLaren 720S Spider, which already has more than 12 cars in Vietnam, the limited edition McLaren 765LT Spider convertible stands out with its redesigned front bumper, additional side fins, additional air vents on the front wheel arches, different logos on the wheels and side skirts.
Similar to the McLaren 720S Spider, the McLaren 765LT Spider convertible also has the fastest roof opening speed in the world, taking only 11 seconds according to the British carmaker’s announcement. However, some Vietnamese supercar owners have experienced a real time of less than 9 seconds to open or close the roof. The McLaren 765LT Spider key fob also has an additional button to open or close the roof.
Equipped with a V8 engine with a capacity of 4.0 liters and twin-turbochargers, the limited edition McLaren 765LT Spider produces a maximum power of 755 horsepower. This is an increase of 45 horsepower compared to the standard version at a rev range of 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 800 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 330 km/h.
