Chery officially launched the new urban edition of the Exploration 06 model on December 6, 2023. The model offers two new versions, with prices ranging from CNY 119,900 to CNY 129,900, equivalent to VND 394 million to VND 426 million.
In addition, Chery also unveiled the Chery Exploration 06 Yueye Edition Discovery+. This version has a higher price tag, reaching CNY 144,900, equivalent to VND 476 million.
If you find the Chery Exploration 06 familiar, it’s because it’s the international renamed version of the Jaecoo 7, which has been displayed in the Vietnamese market but not yet officially launched or sold. The Jaecoo 7 is scheduled for release in our country next year.
The main changes in the Exploration 06 Urban Edition are focused on the exterior. The front grille and the shape of the rear bumper have undergone significant revisions.
As for the Chery Exploration 06 Yueye Edition Discovery+, it comes equipped with Yueye AT 17-inch all-terrain tires and features a 14.8-inch central control screen.
The urban edition’s appearance retains its original design lines and doesn’t undergo many changes. The biggest change is the adjustment of the front grille shape. The urban version of China Open has a less “digital” look and a more luxurious feel. The Chery logo has also been reduced in size, giving it a more elegant appearance. The overall design still features split headlights, which is a prevailing design trend among current domestic SUVs, wouldn’t you agree?
On the side, there aren’t many changes. The design remains mostly the same, with hidden door handles. The shape of the wheels doesn’t change much either, with only slight variations in the color combinations. At the rear of the car, the rear bumper has a more urban look, featuring two square cutouts in the body color. Other parts, such as the continuous taillights, retain their original design, with a technological feel to the light cavity.
Inside the car, there aren’t many changes either. The Chery Exploration 06 features few physical buttons, showcasing its technological style, which is suitable for new energy vehicles. However, having more physical buttons would make operations more convenient.
In addition to the full LCD 10.25-inch instrument panel, there is a large 13.2-inch central control screen. The interior configuration is also rich, featuring the Xiaolong 8155 standard chip. In terms of configuration, the new car offers high-resolution 540° panoramic images, 50W wireless fast charging for mobile phones, a SONY 8-speaker sound system, and support for Apple CarPlay and Huawei HiCar systems on the central control unit.
In terms of power, the Chery Exploration 06 Urban Edition is available in a two-wheel drive version only. The power system remains the same, with a 1.6T engine and a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. This means that the PHEV version has been discontinued. The car boasts excellent fuel efficiency, consuming only 1 liter per 100 km. The engine produces a maximum power of 197 horsepower and a peak torque of 290 Nm.
