Volvo is set to launch its first MPV model, the EM90, on November 12, according to an announcement from the company. Despite being Volvo’s debut in the MPV segment, the EM90 has high expectations, particularly when it comes to safety.

Volvo has developed the EM90 using a frame constructed from high-strength steels, including boron steel, to enhance rigidity and minimize the impact of traffic collisions. This MPV model features a unique dual A-column structure, which improves visibility and ensures passenger safety. Furthermore, the vehicle’s battery pack is safeguarded by a specialized steel alloy, guaranteeing the safety of both occupants and the valuable battery pack, which serves as the foundation of the MPV.

In addition to safety, Volvo has prioritized customer well-being. This commitment is exemplified by the advanced air filtration system installed in the EM90, capable of removing up to 95% of fine PM 2.5 dust particles.

The EM90 also boasts an incredible 21-speaker audio system by Bowers & Wilkins, delivering a power output of 2,460W. This includes integrated headrest speakers, promising an unparalleled audio experience for customers.

“The EM90 is designed to provide comfort and peace of mind in Scandinavian style,” stated Erik Severinson, Product Development Director at Volvo, in a press release. “It sets a new standard for modern luxury—a term frequently substituted nowadays by the concept of ‘quality of life.’ At Volvo, we have a unique position to embrace this new mindset. After all, we hail from Sweden, a place where people believe that quality of life is as crucial as life itself.”

Volvo EM90 will begin accepting reservations on November 12th in the Chinese market. At present, there are no plans for the company to sell this MPV model in the US and Europe. Nevertheless, according to Automotive News, the Swedish brand is exploring the possibility of introducing the EM90 to markets beyond China.
