Tired of his stolen Kia Sportage multiple times, the owner decided to ditch the car at the dealership and walked home for 4 hours.
A Kia Sportage owner in Washington, USA got so frustrated with his car that he returned it to the dealership and walked home. His disappointment with the SUV stemmed from experiencing 4 separate thefts in the past two years, all related to the infamous “Kia Boyz” trend.
Behrouz Alimoradi shared that he had spent thousands of dollars repairing his previous generation Sportage. His car had been repeatedly targeted by thieves and vandals. These issues have also affected many other Kia and Hyundai owners.
The most recent incident occurred in late November 2023, when his Sportage was stolen again. Although the SUV was later recovered by the police, shortly after, Behrouz Alimoradi found his Kia Sportage with a broken window parked at his home.
“I am tired, you know. I swear I am tired of this car… It is just too much. I don’t want this car anymore,” Behrouz Alimoradi told Fox 13 News.
Instead of spending more money on repairs, Alimoradi decided to drive the damaged car to the dealership in Federal Way, Washington and leave it there. He then chose to walk for 4 hours to return home instead of driving his Kia Sportage.
It remains unclear what will happen to the “unfortunate” Kia Sportage. The Kia dealership declined to comment to the media, citing legal restrictions.
Since 2022, the number of thefts involving Hyundai and Kia vehicles has increased. Social media videos have shown how easily these vehicles can be stolen, leading to a rise in these incidents. Automakers and local authorities in many states in the US have tried to address the issue by issuing software updates and providing anti-theft devices such as steering wheel locks. However, these measures have proven insufficient in deterring criminals.
