The angular design of the Tesla Cybertruck raises concerns about the potential danger it poses to people or vehicles in the event of a collision.
According to the plan, the Tesla Cybertruck will be officially unveiled on November 30th, marking an important milestone for Tesla. The company has organized an event at a factory near Austin, Texas to commemorate this occasion.
Since its first appearance as a concept car, the Tesla Cybertruck has sparked controversy in the automotive industry due to its unconventional design. The truck features an angular and rugged exterior, with a body made entirely of ultra-durable stainless steel. This design choice eliminates the need for paint and makes the truck resistant to dents. However, this rugged appearance has raised safety concerns for both the occupants of the truck and other vehicles on the road.
Typically, cars have crumple zones installed at the front and rear to absorb impact forces during a collision. These zones are designed to deform or bend, diverting the force away from the passenger cabin. However, with the Tesla Cybertruck, the use of ultra-durable stainless steel raises questions about the effectiveness of its crumple zones. It is uncertain whether the body of the truck will deform adequately during a collision, potentially transmitting the impact force directly to the cabin and putting the occupants at risk.
Earlier this month, Tesla demonstrated the Cybertruck’s bulletproof capabilities, showcasing the rigidity of its outer shell. However, this demonstration does not guarantee the level of safety the truck can provide in real-world collisions.
In addition to safety concerns, the unique design of the Tesla Cybertruck presents challenges in the production process. Repairing the vehicle may also prove difficult due to the limited number of facilities experienced in handling stainless steel.
The CEO of ANCAP (NCAP in Australia), James Goodwin, has expressed specific concerns about the design of the Cybertruck. He believes that the unconventional design and the stainless steel body pose a real danger to anyone involved in a collision with this pickup truck.
“Try to imagine being hit by a Cybertruck. I don’t think you have a chance of coming out unscathed. The sharp, low front end of the vehicle can cause serious leg injuries and propel victims upwards,” he stated.
