On August 15, 2019, in Ho Chi Minh City, PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) and OTV Media Corporation officially signed an agreement to designate the PVOIL brand as the official title sponsor of the Vietnam Offroad Car Racing 2019 (VOC) competition.
This partnership marks the fourth consecutive year that PVOIL has joined forces with the Forum Otofun.net and OTV Media Corporation to organize the Vietnam Offroad Car Racing competition. In a bid to provide greater support for the event and help promote the relatively new sport of offroad racing in Vietnam, PVOIL has decided to align its brand with this prestigious racing competition.
As a result, this year’s competition will be officially known as the “Vietnam Offroad PVOIL Cup 2019,” and will be referred to as the “PVOIL VOC 2019” for short. PVOIL and OTV Media Corporation have also inked a three-year agreement to retain this title for the competition, with effect from 2019.
The PVOIL VOC 2019 traces its origins back to the 2008 Golden Steering Wheel competition organized by Otofun.net. Initially, this event featured just two racing teams and seven participants. In 2010, the competition received official approval from the General Department of Physical Training and Sports and was renamed the Vietnam Offroad Driving Skills Competition. It was also the first year that offroad clubs from southern Vietnam took part in the event.
In 2012, the General Department of Physical Training and Sports granted official recognition to the competition under the name “Vietnam Offroad Car Racing” (VOC). The Vietnam Offroad Car Racing – VOC 2012 featured several highlights, including the introduction of three different categories and a total of 60 racing teams, including participating teams from other countries in the region.
Now entering its 11th year, the upcoming PVOIL VOC 2019 aims to enhance the quality of racing teams, competition tasks, the exhilaration of the race, as well as ensure the safety of the event and expand media coverage.
In 2019, the competition is set to attract 80 racing teams, marking a record number for offroad car racing events in Vietnam. Participants can expect over 600 thrilling and captivating performances across four different categories, ranging from Original to Open. One unique highlight of PVOIL VOC 2019 will be the nighttime Adventure challenge. All cars used by racing teams and the organizing committee will be fueled exclusively by PVOIL.
