Despite its price tag of over $80,000, the Volvo EX90 continues to attract consumers. |
It appears that only expensive supercars and limited-edition sports cars sell out quickly. It was quite surprising for Volvo when their flagship electric model, the EX90, sold out for the entire year of 2023.
The Volvo EX90 electric SUV was launched last year and is considered as the electric version of the flagship XC90 SUV. Despite its starting price of $80,000, the EX90 didn’t deter consumers from making deposits at dealerships and getting their hands on a few available vehicles in its first production year.
The customer response to the EX90 exceeded the initial expectations of Volvo’s leadership.
Built on the Geely parent company’s SPA2 electric vehicle platform, which is also used for the Polestar 3, the EX90 offers a 7-seat configuration, setting it apart from the Polestar 3. The standard version comes with two electric motors, all-wheel drive, 402 horsepower, and 770 Nm of torque.
In the Performance version of the EX90, the vehicle boasts an impressive 510 horsepower and 910 Nm of torque. While the acceleration capabilities of the standard version were not disclosed by Volvo, they claim that the Performance model can go from 0 to 97 km/h in 4.7 seconds. Both versions are equipped with a 107 kWh battery that can be charged at 250 kW and provide a range of up to 580 km, according to WLTP standards, or approximately 483 km in real-world driving conditions.
As a Volvo, safety is a top priority for the EX90. The car is equipped with long-range LIDAR sensors, 5 radars, 8 cameras, and 16 ultrasonic sensors. The cabin also features various advanced technologies, including a 14.5-inch central infotainment screen with integrated Google Assistant.
