Bonhams, a renowned auction house, is currently preparing for a special auction dedicated to a “wrecked” super motorcycle. Before succumbing to the ravages of time, the pile of scrap was once the famous Brough Superior SS80 1939 super motorcycle.

The “wrecked” super motorcycle has no wheels or exhaust pipe. Only the frame, engine, fork, gearbox, and mudguard remain. The entire metal parts have been corroded. Additionally, there is a torn leather seat.
However, Bonhams predicts that the “wrecked” super motorcycle could be sold for up to £15,000, equivalent to $24,000 USD. If the new owner wants to restore the “pile of scrap” to its original state as a Brough Superior SS80 super motorcycle, they are estimated to spend around £25,000, approximately $40,000 USD.

“The seller’s father bought the bike in 1964. After many years of not being used, the bike was heavily damaged,” revealed Ben Walker from the Bonhams auction house. “However, the Brough Superior SS80 was once considered the Rolls-Royce of motorcycles, so it will have a high price.”
Regarded as a pre-war era super motorcycle, the Brough Superior SS80 is the dream of many motorcycle enthusiasts and vintage car collectors. The name Brough Superior SS80 indicates that the bike’s top speed is 80 miles/hour, equivalent to 128 km/h.

1922 is the birth year of the Brough Superior SS80 super motorcycle. At that time, the Brough Superior SS80 was called the “Rolls-Royce of motorcycles” with a V-Twin engine and a displacement of 982cc.
The production line of the Brough Superior SS80 was halted in 1940. Up to that point, more than 3,000 Brough Superior SS80 motorcycles had been produced.
The auction of the “wrecked” super motorcycle by Bonhams will take place at the Staffordshire County Showground on October 20th. Let’s wait and see at what price the “scrap metal” that was once a super motorcycle will be sold.
