A rare and unrestored 1969 Ford Mustang 429 Boss surprised everyone with an impressive sale price at the recent Mecum Auctions. The Ford Mustang 429 Boss found a new owner for an astounding $550,000.
The valuable 1969 Ford Mustang 429 Boss has only been driven a total of 902 miles and still retains all of its original accessories. Prior to the auction, the organizers estimated that the car would fetch anywhere between $600,000 and $750,000.
Although the Ford Mustang 429 Boss didn’t live up to expectations, selling for half a million dollars is still quite a commendable feat for this classic car.
A total of 859 Ford Mustang 429 Boss models were produced and distributed worldwide. Each one was equipped with a powerful V8 engine. The 1969 Ford Mustang 429 Boss, in particular, boasted a maximum power of 375 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and quickly became a popular choice among speed enthusiasts.
In addition, the 1969 Ford Mustang 429 Boss’s engine generated a peak torque of 450 lb-ft at 3,400 rpm. With this level of power, the car could accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 7.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 189 km/h.
Of course, this is not the most expensive Ford Mustang 429 Boss ever sold. In 2007, another Ford Mustang 429 Boss was auctioned off for an impressive $605,000 by Barrett-Jackson.
