Several agents have indicated that the delay in Toyota Vietnam's launch of the Wigo model has had minimal effect on the delivery schedule for Vietnamese customers.

According to Zing, Toyota Vietnam has confirmed that the scheduled official introduction of Toyota Wigo 2023 to the Vietnamese market on May 24th cannot proceed as planned.

Toyota Vietnam has not provided specific reasons for the delay in launching the A-segment model in the Vietnamese market at this time. The Japanese automaker only mentioned that the delay is due to some objective factors and the new launch date will be announced later.

In a conversation with Zing, a sales consultant at a Toyota dealership in Ho Chi Minh City mentioned that the postponement of the Wigo launch plan by Toyota Vietnam does not significantly impact the delivery of this A-segment hatchback model.

“The Toyota Wigo is still not available at the dealership. Even during the deposit stage, the sales staff and the dealership inform customers that the delivery time is only an estimate and depends on the timing of the launch event determined by Toyota Vietnam,” the individual revealed.

The staff member also stated that they have already notified the group of customers who placed a deposit about the delay in launching the Toyota Wigo 2023, as planned, and confirmed that the delivery of the car will be later than the original timeframe.

Previously, many dealerships stated that the quantity of Toyota Wigo 2023 available for delivery to customers in Vietnam immediately after the launch event had been fully reserved. The red and orange colors of the Toyota Wigo garnered a lot of attention in its second return to the Vietnamese market.

As reported by Zing, the Toyota Wigo was initially planned to officially return to the Vietnamese market on May 24th after nearly a year of suspension due to not meeting the Euro 5 emission standard.

In the next launch to conquer the Vietnamese market, the Toyota Wigo will be equipped with valuable features such as new LED headlights, a blind-spot warning system, a rear cross-traffic alert feature, electronic stability control, and hill start assist.

Due to its numerous upgrades in terms of equipment and exterior, it is predicted that the Toyota Wigo 2023 will have a higher listed price than the previous generation by about 20-30 million VND. The official price of the Toyota Wigo 2023 will be announced during the market launch ceremony in Vietnam.

Before being withdrawn from the Vietnamese market, the Toyota Wigo was an A-segment model imported directly from Indonesia and distributed in Vietnam with two versions, priced at 352 million and 385 million VND, respectively.

In the A-segment car segment, the Toyota Wigo used to compete with the Hyundai Grand i10, Kia Morning, Honda Brio, and VinFast Fadil. In the first half of last year, the sales of the Toyota Wigo in the Vietnamese market plummeted, and it dropped out of the sales charts in the last month of the second quarter.

Currently, the A-segment car segment in Vietnam is mainly dominated by the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Kia Morning. However, in this comeback, the Toyota Wigo, along with its two direct competitors, also faces significant pressure from adjacent segments such as B-segment sedans, small urban SUVs, affordable MPVs, and even cheap mini electric cars.
