Maserati Postpones All-Electric Quattroporte Project
According to Carscoops, recent reports indicate that Maserati has decided to postpone its plans for developing an all-electric version of the Quattroporte. Codenamed M9S, the project has been suspended, with all related activities rescheduled to next year. Production of the electric Quattroporte and its market launch are now projected to take place in 2025, as sources reveal.
In an effort to assure its partners, Maserati has emphasized that the upcoming model will be entirely “developed, designed, and 100% made in Italy”, featuring an electric motor.

The reasons behind the delay of the all-electric Quattroporte project remain undisclosed. However, according to the Italian newspaper Corriere Torino, Stellantis, the parent company, intends to differentiate its luxury brands within the group, thereby avoiding any overlap between Alfa Romeo and Maserati. It is worth noting that Alfa Romeo plans to introduce an electric Giulia between 2025 and 2026, with an astounding power output of up to 986 horsepower.
Another factor contributing to the suspension of the electric Quattroporte project is Maserati’s request for suppliers to cut component costs by 6%. This decision has sparked strong reactions from partner parties, given that the company had already reduced costs by 5-6% in the past.
