In Jalan Skudai area (Malaysia), a Mercedes-Benz car caught fire at the charging station of the renowned German luxury car manufacturer recently.
Based on observations, it appears that the burnt vehicle is the 2022 (or 2023) Mercedes-Benz EQB electric car with a starting price of $65,000 (1.58 billion VND).
Preliminary investigations suggest that this EQB electric car was being charged at the station when it unexpectedly exploded.
It took the authorities approximately one hour to fully extinguish the fire.
Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the Mercedes-Benz vehicle was almost completely destroyed. The Mercedes store and the charging station also incurred 10-20% damages.
Presently, the police are still investigating the cause of the fire. Several sources speculate that the fire might not have been triggered by the electric car battery but rather by other factors.
The Mercedes-Benz EQB is a newly-launched all-electric SUV in Vietnam since September 2023. The car is imported from the US and carries a price tag of 2.289 billion VND.
