The online auction for car registration plates took place on January 6, 2024, and it turned out to be quite an eventful day. One registration plate in particular, with the code 30K-666.66, caught everyone’s attention. This special plate, registered in Hanoi, received bids from a select group of wealthy individuals, reaching billions of Vietnamese dong in value.
The auction for the 30K-666.66 plate started at 9:30 AM and lasted for half an hour. Right from the beginning, the bidding price exceeded a whopping 3 billion dong. As time ticked away, the excitement grew. Finally, when the auction concluded, the registration plate was sold for an astounding 19.58 billion dong.
To summarize, the auction of the 30K-666.66 registration plate ended with a record-breaking bid of 19.58 billion dong. This amount is 3 billion dong higher than the cost of a Range Rover SV or a Lamborghini Urus Performante.
According to the stipulated rules, the winning bidder must complete the payment for the plate within 15 days of the announcement. This payment includes the full auction amount, which will be deducted from a deposit of 40 million dong, but does not cover the vehicle registration fee. Therefore, the total sum to be paid is 19.54 billion dong.
Furthermore, the winning bidder has a maximum of 12 months to register the 30K-666.66 plate for a vehicle. Failure to complete the registration within this timeframe will result in the plate being integrated into the registration and vehicle management system. In such a scenario, the winning bidder will not receive a refund for the auction amount already paid.
