S&S Automotive, the official distributor of Rolls-Royce in Vietnam, has announced that the highly anticipated electric car model, Spectre, will make its official debut in Ho Chi Minh City on January 12.
This marks Vietnam as the 5th Southeast Asian market to introduce the Spectre, following Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. The starting price for this remarkable car has been set at 17.99 billion VND.
In mid-December 2023, the Rolls-Royce Spectre was first spotted at an authorized repair and maintenance shop in Hanoi during a test run.
As the first electric car in the 120-year history of Rolls-Royce, the Spectre boasts a design heavily inspired by the prestigious Wraith and Phantom models, while exuding a wider and lower profile that adds a touch of sportiness.
The front of the car commands attention with its captivating waterfall-shaped grille, featuring Rolls-Royce’s distinctive vertical slats. Illuminated by 22 LED lights positioned on the heat sink wings in the back, this grille emits a soft glow in the dark. The gentle light then reflects off the polished surfaces, creating an exquisite three-dimensional effect at night.
The iconic “Spirit of Ecstasy” figurine gracefully sits atop the grille, an essential element that can be found in every Rolls-Royce car. In the Spectre, this legendary emblem has received a sporty makeover, adding to the car’s allure.
Equipped with a 2-tiered headlight system, the Spectre showcases a slim LED daytime running light strip in the upper part, while the headlights are positioned deeper in the cavity below. Additionally, the car features a spacious center air intake with horizontal fins on the front bumper.
With its 23-inch alloy wheels, the Spectre boasts the largest wheel size among all Rolls-Royce models in the past century. The aerodynamic design of these wheels contributes to the car’s impressive drag coefficient of just 0.25 Cd, the lowest in the entire Rolls-Royce family to date.
The rear of the car is adorned with a vertically oriented LED taillight cluster, accentuated by silver accents.
Stepping inside the cabin, the Spectre offers a range of modern amenities, including a 3-spoke steering wheel with integrated function keys, a digital instrument panel connected to a central touchscreen display, and luxurious leather seats. The car also features a passenger-focused digital display, ensuring the opulent feel synonymous with Rolls-Royce cars, without sacrificing the essence of an electric vehicle.
A standout feature inside the cabin is the starry LED lighting system integrated into the ceiling, as well as the dashboard and door trims.
At the heart of the Rolls-Royce Spectre lies an electric motor boasting a maximum power output of 430 kW (equivalent to approximately 576 horsepower) and a peak torque of 900 Nm. This immense power enables the car to achieve an impressive 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.5 seconds. The Spectre boasts a range of 585 km, as tested using the CLTC cycle in China. Meanwhile, the EPA test cycle in the US documents a range of 515 km for this extraordinary vehicle.
Furthermore, the Spectre benefits from fast charging technology, capable of replenishing the battery from 10 to 80% in just 34 minutes when utilizing a 195 kW DC charger. In urgent situations, a mere 9 minutes of charging can provide enough energy for the car to travel 100 km.
