BYD’s luxury car subsidiary, Yangwang, specializes in the production of luxury electric cars. The brand logo is a Chinese character meaning “lightning” or “electricity”. They have introduced the “e4” technology platform, which features BYD’s exclusive Individual Wheel Drive (IWD) technology.

Yangwang’s products are known for their modern design, fully equipped interiors, and advanced technology, setting a new benchmark in the Chinese and global automotive industry. The U8 is an SUV with unique features, while the U9 is a dynamic electric supercar. Let’s explore and review the U9 below.

Exterior design

The Yangwang U9 is designed with the concept of a “time and space portal”. The shape of the headlights is inspired by outer space, while the front face is strong and built to withstand impacts while maintaining optimal aerodynamics.

The large LED headlights have a distinct C-shaped design, reminiscent of recent models from Toyota such as the Crown or bZ3. The front air intake of the U9 is divided into three sections and features large-size air intakes, similar to luxury supercars.

The car’s body structure follows the classic ratio of fuel-powered cars, with a low and dynamic posture. The gullwing doors add a luxurious and eye-catching touch.

To complement the exterior, the Yangwang U9 is equipped with 21-inch wheels with 10 interwoven spokes, featuring a contrasting black and silver finish.
