Hyundai Group has recently partnered with Samsung Electronics to integrate Samsung’s SmartThings smart home management platform into Hyundai and Kia vehicles.
The SmartThings feature allows car owners to remotely control various home appliances through voice commands or touchscreen operations on the infotainment system.

For instance, Hyundai/Kia drivers can activate the “Home Mode” when returning from work, which will turn on the air conditioning, start the vacuum cleaner, and turn on the lights. Furthermore, users can also pre-start the car’s air conditioning while still inside the house. Additionally, electric car owners can utilize the SmartThings feature to monitor their home’s energy usage and adjust the charging time.

Haeyoung Kwon, Vice President of Hyundai and Kia’s Entertainment and Information Development Center, stated, “This presents an opportunity to enhance the connection between homes and vehicles in various aspects.” “We aim to accelerate technological advancements to continually enhance the travel experience for Hyundai and Kia customers.”
Following the partnership agreement, Hyundai and Kia will activate the SmartThings feature through over-the-air (OTA) updates or USB ports on existing vehicle models.
