In a recent car license plate auction held by the Vietnam Joint Stock Auction Company, there were several license plates that fetched high prices, with one of them being the plate 88A – 688.88 from Vinh Phuc province.
License plate enthusiasts have noted that there are 3 plates from Bac Ninh, Dong Thap, and Vinh Phuc provinces that have unique license plate numbers. This is because these provinces have corresponding prefix numbers 99, 88, and 66 respectively, and the identical trailing numbers 9, 8, and 6 create a seamless sequence, which is quite rare to find in license plates.
Going back to the auction for the 88A – 688.88 license plate from Vinh Phuc province, this plate received strong bids throughout the 30-minute bidding session. At the end of the auction, it was announced by the Vietnam Joint Stock Auction Company that the 88A – 688.88 plate was sold for 3,035,000,000 VND.
The winning bid for the 88A – 688.88 license plate is equivalent to the price of a BMW X4 car, and even higher than many popular car models in the market, such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC 200, Mercedes-Benz C300, Audi A4, or Porsche Macan, which are priced at around 3.35 billion VND.
According to the regulations, the winner of the car license plate auction must make the full payment within 15 days from the announcement of the auction result. This payment amount is offset by the deposit amount of 40 million VND but does not include the vehicle registration fee.
Furthermore, within 12 months, the auction winner must register the purchased license plate for their car. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the transfer of the license plate to the registration and vehicle management system, and the winning bidder will not receive a refund of the paid auction amount.
