During the Guangzhou Auto Show 2023, Dongfeng Nammi 01 was officially launched for pre-order, with prices ranging from 79,800 yuan to 109,800 yuan, or 259 million dong to 356 million dong, respectively. This is a small and interesting electric car from a well-known truck brand in Vietnam.
And on the evening of January 7, 2024, Dongfeng officially unveiled the Nammi 01 EV at a slightly lower price than the pre-order price. Specifically, as well as the technologies featured in the Dongfeng Nammi 01, we will discuss below.
Price and versions
The 01 is the first model of the Nammi series, built on the Dongfeng Quantum Architecture S3 platform. It is worth mentioning that the first batch of Dongfeng Nammi 01 rolled off the production line in China on January 6, indicating that the company really values ??the success of this small electric car.
During the launch event on January 7, Dongfeng announced that the Nammi 01 would be priced from 74,800 yuan to 104,800 yuan (equivalent to $10,400 – $14,600) or 244 million dong to 342 million dong. Therefore, this price is 5,000 yuan, or 16 million dong lower than the pre-order price. There will be a total of 6 versions of the Dongfeng Nammi 01, giving customers a wide range of choices.

Positioned as a compact electric car, the Dongfeng Nammi 01 has overall dimensions of 4,030mm in length, 1,810mm in width, and 1,570mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,660mm. The car can accommodate 5 people in a standard layout.
When customers choose to buy the Dongfeng Nammi 01, in addition to the 6 versions available, they also have 5 exterior colors to choose from, including yellow, white, green, white + yellow, and white + green. The car comes with standard 16-inch rims or optional 17-inch rims, all of which are painted black and have 215/60 tires.
At first glance, the Dongfeng Nammi 01 has a quite rounded design. The front applies a closed grille design, a standard for electric cars, and this detail is combined with triangular headlights on both sides, connected by a thin LED strip for daytime lighting.
To avoid the empty appearance of the electric car front without a grille, the well-known truck brand in Vietnam has added faux plastic air intakes to the Dongfeng Nammi 01, with white trim on both sides, creating a good highlight in the design.
From the side, the Dongfeng Nammi 01 features a floating roof design, and the body and roof of the car come in various colors for customers to choose from. The car body has a short front and rear overhang, and is equipped with hidden door handles and low wind resistance wheels. It also has a bright yellow paintwork with a light roof and black plastic trim on the side of the car, making the Nammi 01 look stylish.
At the rear of the car, the elegance and compactness are most evident in the tail of the car. The Dongfeng Nammi 01 has cute circular taillights, dark paintwork, and black trim, which creates a good highlight. Furthermore, this electric car is also equipped with a rear spoiler, and the trunk is designed with two colors, along with a black plastic rear bumper.

When entering the cabin, the interior of the Dongfeng Nammi 01 comes in 2 basic colors: black with white and black with gray. The cockpit is equipped with a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster and a multifunctional 2-spoke steering wheel.
The center console features a 12.8-inch floating touchscreen with remote control via smartphone, OTA updates, and voice control.
In addition, the car also comes with other basic features such as 32-color ambient lighting, wireless charging for mobile phones, a drawer under the glove compartment, and a one-click flat mode for the front seats, which is a great feature for the driver to rest during long journeys or to turn the car into a mobile room.
The center console is a big plus for the Dongfeng Nammi 01. Normally, this detail is made of plastic or faux wood trim, but on this car, it is covered in white leather with diamond stitching, which looks very luxurious and high-end like expensive luxury cars.
Powertrain
The power of the Dongfeng Nammi 01 electric car comes from a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor, producing a maximum power of 95 horsepower and a maximum torque of 160 Nm. The car has a top speed of 140 km/h.
In addition, its lithium iron phosphate battery pack of 31.45 kWh and 42.3 kWh provides a range of up to 330 km and 430 km under CLTC test conditions, respectively. Both DC fast charging and AC slow charging are supported.
In the DC fast charging mode, the battery can be replenished from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes or charge enough in 8 minutes to enable the user to experience a 200 km long journey.
Furthermore, advanced level 2 driving assistance functions are also present, including blind spot monitoring, automatic parking, remote parking, front collision warning, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control.

The Dongfeng Nammi 01 is positioned as a pure electric compact car, competing with models in the same price range, including the BYD Seagull, JAC Y3, Wuling Bingo, etc. These models usually focus on cost efficiency and practicality, with fewer high-tech configurations.
